Everytime something is done to Recreational Anglers we look for an   oppertunity to rectify it.

For those that don't know what this is   about, currently DAFF has adopted a plan that will cut Recreational quota by more than half, while handing out more of the TAC to interim relief to others that overfished their interim relief by 100s of tonnes last season!  Recreational TAC has gone from 183 tonnes to 83 tonnes, and you only have 25 days to catch crayfish in.

Well here is such an oppertunity.  I dont really catch kreef, but will   send a mail to these people.  We can moan 25 pages on threads or tell   these people what we think.

I will copy and paste what Cary Steele said.

Please guys this is your only chance to say something.  If you have sent   emails to these people, and they then still do what they want, then   complain away.  If you however view this post and then do nothing, don't   complain when they eventually take all our allocations and not just for   crayfish away.

NOTICE:  TO ALL WHO CATCH KREEF  RECREATIONAL, AND THOSE WHO HAVE A VESTED INTEREST IN  KREEFING.
Below  is a list of contact details of the people who are involved in   the  decision-making process, that proposed, and more than likely will   gazette, the  reduction of the recreational quota by more than half.   From 183 tons to 83,5  tons. This decision was done without any valid   reason and without due process.  It will have a huge affect of the   socio-economics of the coastal areas of the  Northern and Western Cape.   Also being a totally unconstitutional decision, which  impedes in your   right to fair access to a resource. This season is pivotal, as  if we   don't do anything now, we will loose it all.
Communicate  directly with these people as an individual. You have the   right to let your  voice be heard. DAFF needs to realize how many   peoples lives they touch when  making unjustified decisions. The   following people are directly involved: Dennis  Fredricks, Desmond   Stevens and who finally signs off on the document, the  Minister   herself. Put pressure on these people by all means possible. Send an    e-mail to one and cc the other on the same e-mail.
  Kind  regards
  Cary  Steele-Boe  (Recreational  Fishing Services)

This is crazy. If they get away with this what is to follow? Why not set up a petition or something and hand it over to the top brass. I don't think it is going to work if you send emails to the pawns rather make it a consolidated effort.  :dunno:

Once again, a percentage of anglers act like a holes and responsible recreationals bare the brunt of it. DAFF must keep banning stuff, nothing will work until they actually get off their backsides and monitor anglers personally.  :dislike:

I prefer to moan, have sent many emails over the past Government officials regarding what I have witnessed etc. and have not even been graced with a response.

We did hand over a petition. We also handed over a report detailing financial contributions by recreationals. Both have been swept under the table as the government did not ask for them.
The ONLY way this is now going to be heard, is if we inundate their mail boxes.
PLEASE could we implore you to send them all a mail.

WK, it is not anglers who acted wrong - it was those awarded temporary interim relief status....

petitions have been done, but have little effect.  We effectively stopped something else in Cape Town recently.

You dont win this by sending one mail with lists of names.  You need all the names to each send an email

Fact: DAFF and others look at these forums.
Fact: We do ourselves no favours when we post "as recreational fishermen we do more damage than commercials". You all know what I am referring to and out of not wanting to blow this thread off on a tangent, I'll leave it at that.
Fact: If we stand together to protect our interests, we will gain massive ground.
