Always been a good idea -  but, once you get seawater anywhere near, the rust comes quick on those pipe cleaners and will stain your leaders. What I use is the flat green plastic coated wire that gardeners and florists use

If you do'nt smoke pipe this side of the border the authorities will stop you and ask you stupid questions like " Far kom jy van dan boetie".

True Ziggy. But this is so cheap you can change them before the rust.  :hnthnt: They are also enviromently friendly so if one should by accident fall over board they will rust away and sure the green plastic ones will last twice as long in the ocean.

the only accidents I have is rods falling overboard - two in two weeks...and that is some serious environmental damage because Shimanos are not bio-degradable!!!! :hehe:  Also, by the time that the pipe cleaners have rusted - its too late

Cool idea Mike. There was a thread somewhere about this... will go look for it.

K found it: http://www.ultimateangling.co.za/index.php?topic=786.0

This is what I use. When I take them off, keep them in a pile and re-use them.
