Oil and Grease free spool!!
« on: August 27, 2010, 10:38:21 AM »
I partially stripped my Torium20 for the first time to get the sand out.

I using Reefmans tuts to guide me as well as comfort from him that I could not possible mess things up.  ( almost lost the clip pin and spring)  duh

Before removing my spool with the line on, it was stated that I need to secure the loose end of my line with some masking tape.  I have also seen the people cover all there line on the spool with masking tape to protect the line from greese and oil as well as dirty hands while performing the service.

PROBLEM!!  I did not have any masking tape or insulation tape. duh

So I tried the next best thing - PLUMBERS TAPE.

It work perfectly and came off very easily once I had assemble the reel again.

The other benifit I think is that plumbers tape has no adhesive and would therefore be better than than masking or insulation tape.

Shot Reefman!

Just so you know the tooth pick you suggested to hold the clip pin in place is nothing short of genius.

I am still so glad that the spring never left the housing when I took it apart. ( Not in a CHECKERS packet).  I was dreading having to write to you the next day, and having to tell you I lost the spring and need to buy a new one. LOL
