Am report on our East Coast from Gonubie to Kei

  Mornings Folks , ...Saturday I got down to my spot at 09h30 and low was at 12h30..water looked pretty good, colour and temp was spot on...not the right time of day for kobbie on spoon BUT always nice to scope ones spot out at a different time of day...although it was a neap tide sea , the water was a bit up and a westerly surge was running...what i did notice that the shallows was teeming with bait fish and then when i went down on Sunday at 11h00 water was even better but the baro had topped out at 1029hpk and it was now dead steady....the shallows and gullies had tons of small shad zipping about and with that in mind i was thinking , must be a kobbie about....[/size]BUT alas , nothing...time of the day and we now look to the coming weekend and early AM outgoing tides...stay tuned...

  Mornings Folks..well , I popped down to my spot yesterday afterwork for a 45 minute session and it really did look good..water colour...temp and no surge ...only thing that did me in was the sudden drop in barometer...kobbies do not like a sudden dropping baro..I could see the coastal low approaching ..It was great to get in a midweek session and the weekend really looks promising with great tides....will give an updated forecast here tomorrow....

  Mornings Folks , well we got an east at the moment and a coastal low about to come past and the baro has dropped...


Tomorrow the west will puff and hopefully this warms the water a bit and cleans it up nicely again...tomorrow sees you with a low at 08h23 and on Sunday at 08h51..


Both mornings very nice outgoing to low tides ,


Your window will be Sunday morning , although the west may be a tad stiff still then BUT the baro will be rising nicely as that high pressure ridges in ..


We on a dark moon spring approaching so please be aware as that tide bottoms out and then starts to push...


Spots to look out for will be Glen Gariff ..Bulugha point IF the west does not puff to stiff and of course Cintsa point BUT watch that tide as she turns ,,dont get caught on that point as the tide rushes in...


Well Folks , tight lines and just go fish!!...

Mornings Folks..some feedback after this mornings session....joh the water is FREEZING , that east from yesterday did the water no favours at all...colour still not too bad and the sea was not up..so not sure when that big swell predicted will come in BUT this west today should bring that warmer water in and then just maybe we can have a look tomorrow morning early again...

  Afternoon Folks...this past weekend was really good to scope my spot out again on a decent tide and clean clear water...it was chilly , the water , and that is what I fear kept the kobbies away...


I get asked time and again...why just spoon?...and why just kob??...and why just over bricks?...


Well , for me its actually NOT about the hook up...kob with spoon over sand has been "dragged" to death.. ..sorry for the pun...intended...AND why would kob NOT hunt in and around the bricks??.....


Well over the last 20 odd years Ive proved this over n over again....


Its all about the process ...and it starts on the Monday..looking at the weather systems...watching the water ..looking at the tides and the anticipation is stuff jet fuel is made of!!!..


For me , I like the "friendship" one develops with your spot(s) and the journey as you get to know them...I hadent fished my top spot for about 6 months and when I got to them last weekend it was like visiting an ole friend and then again this weekend...and for me its my spot..it speaks to me...and yes ..other fisherman fish there at times ...BUT..they dont fish it and communicate with it like I do... ..My wife always says ..how can you call it MY spot??..well it is!!... ...


I love getting down there and just chilling for say 5 odd minutes ..take in the smells , sounds and sights..


Then...that first cast as a loosener as that light breaks the dark is what its all about!!!..


the smooth swing..the SL humming as that spool spins on its sealed bearings ...the DS spoon hits the water without even a splash and you just know the entry is sweet...


You tack up the bit of slack and get the spoon up to attack speed and your senses are ALL tuned to what your rod tip is doing and how your spoon is swimming....


The bite??...couldnt tell you...BUT you will KNOW when that kobbie is ON!!...

  Mornings Folks , well we heading into an iffy weekend for fishing...coming off of a dark moon spring and the low tides are midday and that is always awkward for most spots along our east coast..[/size]Saturday you have a low at 11h34 and on Sunday at 12h05..So both mornings are early AM high tides ...As you look at the synoptic that cold front approaching will hit us proper on Sunday and the west will pump early on Sunday morning...Saturday will be your best window of opportunity as the winds will be very light and variable...Water doesnt look too bad and the temp should be around the 17 mark...Will have a follow up look at conditions later on during the day ...Stay tuned...

  Mornings Folks ...while CT has taken a battering with the past 2 cold fronts and one about to smash them again , we here on the east coast are now getting battered by a VERY stiff west wind...Sooo..its gonna blow gale here today and then ease off tomorrow...during tomorrow the baro will start to rise as that high ridges in behind and I think that Sunday AM will be the window...Showing light air and with an early AM out going low tide it might just be what the fishing doctor orderd...Tight lines and stay tuned ...

Good day Folks , ok , found this thread again , and I must admit , the weather systems really are back on line ...its been a LONG pull from 2020 to around October 2025 , in Feb this year i noticed some normality in the systems coming along the coast ...


I will be giving a full report here on a weekly basis and anything of interest inbetween...


I really am buoyant about what I am seeing on the synoptics at the moment  , so stand by and ...

Mornings Folks , well we moving into a dark moon spring this weekend and with out going tides in the morning , bar the sea getting its back up , we may be in for a good opportunities weekend indeed...


Monday morning and this morning I went for a throw and the sea is really looking promising...


Saturday sees us with a low at 09h24 and Sunday AM with a low at 10.04...


The highs that are ridging behind two weakish cold fronts will be pretty slow in reaching landfall...Sat AM is going to be the optimum window...

Mornings Folks , well things are really lining up nicely along our stretch of coast this coming weekend...[/size]We on a dark moon spring and the sea has tapped off quite a bit and no impending cold fronts incoming...We have a high that has steadied itself off of the coast and the west will puff untill tomorrow morning around 10h00 and then the east will come through, your window will be from 05h00 to around 11h00 tomorrow morning before that east gets irritating, ....The only concern I have that the barometer is very very still , I have never liked a dead barometer ...BUT..the water itself is in pristine conditio ...Gin clear , about 22 temp wise , which might just be tad warm for those kobbies i am after...Spots to look out for along our East coast would be Chefane as that tide drains and then turns at 10h00 tomorrow morning with a low at 09h25..Cintsa point will be the spot for shad and then of course Kwelegha as well...Keep a watch as it is spring and be aware of the surge on the push...Keep the Faith and tight lines out there...[/color]

Good day folks , its the midweek peek to see how we looking for the coming weekend , ..we in for a neap tide weekend and as the systems stand , they look very normal AND promising for this time of the year...


I will say now , that the window o0f opportunity will be from 04h00 to around 15h00 on Saturday , Sunday might be ok..ish...BUT I think the wind will pick ...sea at the moment is not up , but those fronts approaching , may slip off south...


We will look on Friday and make the final call...

Good day Folks , well , well ...as you can see on the synoptic , really lining up beaut for our East coast/Jikeleza.....this low has come through and the west has been puffing steadly all day and its cleaned up the water quite a bit , the temp is around the 17 mark , a tad cool but could get up a few degrees overnight as the west continues to bring the warmer water in....[/size]You have a neap tide this weekend moving into a bright moon spring...you have a high tide at 09h02 tomorrow morning and a high at 10h35 on Sunday , with a variance of 0.6m throughout the 12 hour tide shift...Swell running at the moment is around the 5 ti 6 foot marks and its in a south westerly direction with set intervals of about 14 seconds...No surge at the moment of the water and no forseeable surge for both days ahead...Your window will be from 04h00 tomorrow morning to around 12h00 , then again on Sunday early...Spots to look out for would be Chefane as that tide pushes early AM and possibly Glen Gariff...Keep the Faith and tight lines...[/color]

Good day Folks , well I have had a really productive week of throwing spoon for kob , hooked quite a few shad and three kob , conditions have been just that good and predictable...[/size]As you can see from the synoptic , the high is ridging in and the west will puff along our coast untill tomorrow morning and swing to that beastly east around 11h00...BUT....here is the kicker , the cold fronts off of Gough are moving pretty fast and MAY just make landfall before the weekend is over , so , Sunday might be an iffy day for fishing...You have a bright moon spring low tide tomorrow morning at 09h18 and on Sunday 09h49 , with a swell of around 6 to 8 foot on the outside sets and a 14 second interval , but please be wary of the surge and rush of the spring tide , especially as that tide turns to the push...Your window will most certainly be tomorrow morning before that beastly eastly comes through...Spots to look out for would be Glen gariff , Kwelegha , Cints at the point for shad and Chefane beach on the turn of the tide ...Haga and onto the Kei area , the sea might prove to be too big...Remember Folks , ALWAYS fresh bait , the water is gin clear and around the 23 mark temp wise , do not be under gunned as our coast is Poensie and silver country with these type of water conditions...Keep the Faith and stay SOLID out there!!![/color]

Good day folks , well weve had some beaut winter cold fronts come through and weve also had some decent rain along our East coast....

Nahoon and Gonubie rivers are flowing brown and the inshore areas and surrounds are pretty grubby as of this morning , ..the west has been puffing steadly all day and last check on the water , it certainly has cleaned up since this morning....

You have neap tides this weekend with a variance of 0.6 m between a 12 hour tide period , high to low to high...

Tomorrow sees you with a high tide at 07h04 and on Sunday at 07h54...
As you look at the synoptic and very very week inland high pressure has formed and this will have a small effect on the systems this weekend ...

The west will blow through the evening and will tap off tomorrow around 10h00 and then as that high moves slowly past thepressure will rise...

Your window will be on Sunday from 04h00 through to 12h00 before that east starts puffing ...

On these heap tides and high early morning the beach drop offs are a must to look out for ...Chefane , in front of yellow sands resort and a walk along the way to Bosbok would also be a good bet...

The temp at the moent is around the 18 mark and will increase as that west shapes the warm current inshore....
The shad will certainly be on line in the blue water and fresh pillie is a must!!!

Good day Folks , we moving onto a dark moon spring and the two systems that have been idling towards our coast have finally made landfall and the west is on us at over 50kph gusts as I do this report...


Lovely early morning low tides sees you with a low at 08h02 tomorrow morning and at 09h10 on Sunday morning...the swell is running long an big offshore at around 10f and at an even 5 to 6 ft inshore in a south westerly direction ..I am not to sure about any surging , but one must always be wary during an approaching spring tides...


The tidal variance over a 12 hour period will be at 1,2m mark...


IF , the systems keep track , and the high ridging in behind the fronts , which will change things early Sunday AM , then your window might be very small this weekend ...


from late arvie on Saturday through to early Sunday AM...if you a night time fisherman , then you in for some calm...


It is going to be a very tight timing weekend this weekend and for one will be watching the barometer extremely closely...

Good day Folks , well , its going to be an iffy weekend along our east coast this weekend , and NOT to say you will not get a fish , but , its going to be hard work...


With that VERY slow moving high ridging in , its going to be a beastly eastly all weekend and tomorrow it will puff properly...


That being said , a window will open on Sunday arvie and i think that will be your best option and with a low tide at 14h29 on Sunday , it wouldnt harm to fish on the push...


Spots to look out for would be Glen Gariff beach area as that water temp drops and a piggie may just have your name on it , IF the sea is not up ...nice east choppy water and coldish and you will be in business...


Another piggie playground is left of Cefane towards Bosbok ...could be worth the walk ...


You have a high tide at 07h32 tomorrow and at 08h23 on Sunday ...the swell wil switch from SSwest to a more direct southerly directio as that east gets up to speed...the temp is at around 20 and will certainly drop in the next 24 hours ...


Tidal coefficiency will be at an even 0.5m over a 12 hour tidal period , so , hoepfully no surging is expected...

Good day Folks , this weekend is lining up for a pretty decent fishing weekend...as you look at the synoptic , you can see the coastal low busy passing and the barometer has bottomed out and as that high starts ridging in the glass will start to rise and the wind factor will be almost a non event for both Sat and Sun mornings coupled with an approaching bright moon spring and early AM low tides...


Saturday sees you with a low tide at 08h29 and on Sunday at 09h06...


The water temp is sitting at an even 20 degrees inshore with a 2 to 4 foot swell running inshore and 5 to 7 foot off shore in a South south west direction...there is no surge expected or predicted and the coefficient variance is between 0.5 and 1.5m over a 12 hour period...


BUT...seeing as its leading up to bright moon spring , which is on Monday , still watch as that tide turns on the low and starts to push....


The water is gin clear in most spots along the coast and fresh bait is a MUST...


Poensie and silvers may well be out n about , so be prepared...
