Kent I am going to the Margate area next week until the month end , I know it is not your stamping ground but , any brief ideas for next weekend.


South coast gurus please don't be shy to help , I have never been successful there [size=78%] , [/size]and this time of year is a first.[size=78%]

As to the update , will be in a better position from Wednesday to say whats what this coming weekend as we stand there are two cold fronts approaching BUT they are very due south AND I think swell will be up this coming weekend with the after affects of cyclone Enawo...BUT lets see what the 72 hours brings...[/size]

  Mornings Folks ...well , a midweek update and the outlook looks damn promising for the weekend and especially Sunday AM early ...ALTHOUGH...there is a largeish swell predicted due to the cyclonic activity of Fernando...BUT..as we look at the systems coming in from the west , its starting to look like a typical winter set up....those coastal lows with a front behind them and that high chasing close....looking good and now we pray for cleaner seas and NOT any surging.....

  Good morning East Coasters ...looks like we might just have a decent weekend fishing , condition wise AND IF the sea behaves itself with no surge OR a heavy ground swell running...BUT ..that will only be seen as that cold front taps our coast line much later this evening...[/size]What is comforting is that the water has cleaned up and the temp has gone up a few notches and is now hovering around the 18 mark ..., although there will still be grubby and cold patches along our Jikeleza and the trick will be to find those 'warm" and good looking water patches....
I would suggest just off of some of our deep water points the water should be cleaner and a tad warmer , with this warmer water edging in and alot cleaner be on the alert as early showings of shad have been caught...
Tomorrow you have a high tide at 06h50 and on Sunday at 07h20.
We on a bright moon nip althoughh moving into a dark moon spring ..Sooo....with the last two cyclones that have passed the Madagascar west coast , it has caused the sea to be a bit unsettled and we might still be feeling the "aftershocks" so always be wary of those tides as they go from low to the push....[/font]
With a high this early . its a lekker outgoing tide for those that like to walk n stalk and a no better place than the Chintsa beach areas along to Cefane....should you find some cold grubby patches , a pig might just be hanging out there....
My bet would be Sunday AM early and until around 11h00 am before that east comes through...Saturday is going to be a bit of a west bluster and two spots that offer shelter and fair fishing would be Kwelerga and Glen Gariff also Pullins out Haga wa next to the black high rocks....
IF..that west does not puff to stiff too early tomorrow , then Glen Muir and Navar on the push is also a very good option....
So , all in all , it looks promising and also watch that just offshore line for any bird and dolphin activity as this is a sure sign of early red eye sards and other bait fish , always lekker to fish in an area when this takes place....

  Mornings East Coasters , well we have cooled down somewhat and some nice quenching rain to take the sting out of the heat over this past week......



Onto this weekends fishing and by all accounts looks pretty promising ...we moving into a dark moon spring and as of yesterday and this morning no big seas or any surge expected but as always with the approach of a spring tide , please be alert at the waters edge , especially as that tide turns to push...



Tomorrow you have a high at 02h35 and on Sunday at 03h10...these are two great early AM outgoing tides and our Jikeleza fishes pretty well on an outgoing and it coincides with an early AM...



Three spots come to mind straight away...Bulugha Point area ...Glen gariff and Cintsa point....remember Cefane to the left of the river and then make your way back as that tide pushes....The wind tomorrow should be a gently south wester and that baro is on a steady rise and by tomorrow AM it should almost be topping out at 1019hpk and getting to that magical number....NOW..with this light wind , also then , dont forget about the two Glens...Navaar and Muir...both have good gutters and gulleys on an outgoing...

A good little walk of about a kay is from Queensberry towards Cintsa ...some beaut nooks and crannies along there and with this water that has cleaned up very nicely and the temp hovering at 17 you could very well be in business....



Just out of our Jikeleza boundary is the Bonza bay area between Gonubie and Bonzas...I believe the recent heavy seas have washed out some nice holes and gutters , always been a good drop shot and rubbers area....



Bearing in mind with this water cleaned up and that bit warmer , it means the poensies might be in action and a fresh pillie mix grill might just do the trick and try and release them ...



Silvers are around too in this water and some fresh red bait would be a damn fine option....remember Folks , should you want to target these two fish , have some good solid tackle ...strong hooks and make sure your line is of a good quality...playing one of these fish for hours on end does it no favours should you want to release...



Sunday AM ...will also see you with a light north wind and while this is a bergy IT MIGHT not be warm as a devils wind is not good for fishing BUT the water will be spot on....



My prediction the window will be tomorrow AM from 04h00 through to 10h00...

  Mornings  East Coasters , well we heading into another one of those iffy weekends fishing  prospects. There is a rather pesky high pressure hanging off the Nambian coast  AND its pushing those two frontd pretty smartly …    We got a  slight west for most part of the day today with a very SLOW rising barometer .  The baro will top out around thw 1019hpk mark and it will hover there pretty  much the whole weekend. Sunday sees a fairly brisk beastly eastly come through  and with that windswept southly swell it will cool off rapidly the sea…..
Sooo…what  does this all mean as to when and where to fish as the tides are high early AM.  Saturday sees you with a 06h31 high tide and on Sunday with a 07h19 high tide ,  awkward tides at the least , which leaves you with a low around midday on both  days.
High tide  fishing on the Jikeleza can be awkward at times , although much success has  been had along the Cintsa and Cefane beach areas…Glen Gariff off the front  ledges is also an option on a high tide. We on a nip tide this weekend and a  southly swell predicted of between 4 to 6 foot inshore. Once again beware that  tide change from low  to pushing…

It seems the  shad are showing themselves and as we get to that time of the year where shad  frenzy takes hold , I implore you to show some restraint when getting onto a  good shoal of shad….
I say the  window of opportunity will be tomorrow AM on the high and I have mentioned one  or two spots that could produce on this tide…
The water at  the moment is around the 17 mark and a lemon twist colour , which , in essence  , is a good combination ,,,

  Mornings Folks ...fishing was slow this weekend and here is my brother in law with a nice sizer shad on Sunday AM...a couple came out BUT they were very sporadic through the morning and the sea was fairly up considering the nip tide....

  Another Jikeleza local , Greg ,  using his local knowledge to good effect in iffy conditions this past weekend and getting some fine black tail and baardman on his KP once again......great fishing indeed!!

  Mornings East Coasters...we entering a VERY beastly eastly weekend IF you look at the synoptic as at 06h00 this morning and my baro is sitting at a steady 1024hpk , although it did drop 8 points overnight AND ...as you look at that screenshot of the animated map you will see why the baro has dived a bit...a VERY small cutoff/coastal low has formed and is being very stubborn and NOT being pushed by that high ridging in along our coast....Should this continue overnight we will[/size] [/color][/size]see a fair amount of water fall....[/color]
While the east is very slight at the moment I predict the wind will change later this arvie into the evening to a very light air north wester and that Folks will make for a fairly comfortable early AM fishing session as well as Sunday AM...BUT by 10h00 on Sunday that high will prove too much and the east will blast through....
with this system developing you can expect high temps on Sat and Sun...
We have lekker early AM outgoing tides this weekend with a low on Saturday at 08h28 and on Sunday at 09h00...as always just watch that tide as it turns to the push as we are entering a bright moon spring phase...
Sea temp is around the 17 mark and the water is a lemon twist colour which is not bad at all....with a 5 to 8 foot inshore swell running and a tad southly watch out for those sudden surges....
Spots to look out for would be Cintsa point early morning ....Bulugha point and Glen gariff could be options as always and even Glen navaar and Muir....kwelerga Im sure will have its fait share of shad fisherman this weekend as they came out there during this past week....
Folks with the sard and shad season looming . remember to update your fishing permit as the MCM officer will no doubt redouble their efforts at this time of the year re spot checks etc etc...

  Mornings East Coasters ..well those of you who are fortunate to have the next 4 days off , it looks like it could be a good fishing easter weekend....[/size]As you look at the synoptic , its already starting to look like the winter systems are coming through and the season is a changing..[/font]
[/color][/size]Winter is an exciting time for fishing ...sards are expected...shad will be in their droves and the monsters that follow these two foods will also now venture closer inshore , you have your fast sharks and with these cold fronts comes westerlys and that warmer blue current flows closer inshore and we can expect to see all those game fish again that are so prolific along the KZN coast..[/font]
As you see we are already have the first of those two fronts on our doorstep and the wind will be west for the best part of tomorrow and Saturday and sneaking in a few early hours on Sunday AM....As That weakish high ridges in the baro will start to climb from tomorrow evening and slowly through the day on Saturday...
The water is still a tad chilly and grubby in places and is at a 15 degree mark ALTHOUGH this west today should bring those degrees up pretty smartly...
Windows of opportunity??...Well , my opinion would be early AM Saturday and CERTAINLY early AM on Sunday....Your beach areas from Cintsa point through to Cefane is always a good option with an early AM high moving into an outgoing....
Tomorrow sees you with a high at 05h13......Sat at 05h40...Sunday at 06h10 and Monday at 06h44...Please note we have come off a bright moon spring and seas could still very well be up and surging , lets hope not!!!...Predicted eastly swell running at between 6 to 9foot So ..just be alert when that tide turns to the push at around midday...
