ID FOR ME PLEASE
« on: July 01, 2013, 10:27:47 AM »
Hi all, I caught this a few months back and would like to know what type of kingfish it is.
A bad days fishing is better than sitting at home moping.

Think it's a bludger (Carangoides gymnostethus) http://www.fishbase.org/summary/1905

No white edge on the anal fin...

Looks like CLS's kingy also had a few yellow dots?!

I can see a clear white edge on the trailing edge of the anal fin?  :dunno:
Looks like a Greenspot/Brassy Kingie to me.

First time to see this species for me.

Weird, just looking at it and it kinda looks like a grunter cross garrick.

On which of the pics do you see it, Reefz? I don't see a white margin on the tail?

Also, there are some fading yellow dots on the second pic... mid body around the lateral line?

The tail was  more yellow and to be honest i dont recall seeing any   white, I have looked in Fishers of the sea and cannot seem to identify   it. JohnF seems the closest  :dunno: Tasted great though
