Pulley rig , with Floatation and Circle !
« on: June 05, 2013, 08:51:09 PM »
I know theres some nice thread that reefman did , how ever , heres a few tricks and tips with pics .

I have been very very happy using this trace , over Foul areas , altough its expensive on Swivels , its a super trace .

you will need .

3/0 to 8/0 Cirle hooks .
.85 mono , for the pulley and/or .60 mm for Trace line , .40 or .45 mm for sinker snoot .
2 swivels , 1 Power swivel , 2 beads , I like the soft one that can slip over your knots , its not a deal breaker if you dont have soft ones .
Piece of shaped foam , or Cork .
Grapnel , or Bottle sinker , this trace is mainly for rocky areas .

Things to remember .

The longer your pulley will be , the short the Hook and Sinker line will have to be , if you want to clip your bait .
I would say nothing longer than 25cm pulley , 30 to 40 cm Hook and sinker snoot .

finished .
NOTES , you can either fisx your Cork/ Float on the hook like in post 1 , or you can use a nail knot ,see picture , to tie on  to the Hook snoot , and slide the Cork over the Knot , securing the float , you can also use a Toothpick but a tooth pick tend to slide sometimes ,  A nail knot can also be used on Worm baits and long soft bais , to secure your bait with cotton . The knot will prevent your bait from bunching up .

The last pic show the knot just before you pull it into the Float .
Lastly , I like using Cork , or Surfboard foam , the stuff you buy at some shops , ar too soft  , resulting in being compressed when baiting up .

Have a loook in the Knot section , Its actually a flyfishing knot , for this purpose , I suppose you could call it a stopper knot .

You trace tends to tangle less ,the shorter the hook and sinker snoot are . Mine are not longer than 30 cm , so  30 sinker line / 20 cm pulley and 30 cm Hook line .

Thanks Mr Homie !

Nicki , another note , regarding the tangles , keep in mind that you line will be tight most of the time , so the 'pulley ' will be part of your sinker snoot , when its out , now heres the really nice thing about the Circle and the pulley , if the fish decides to swim away [ideal] you will get a hook set . if the fish comes in , and dislodges your sinker , the pulley will do the strike , and what happens in most cases , you will keep on getting slack line , without knowing you have the fish....  This has happened plenty of times , with me and mates , you keep on reeling in and here in the shallow you relize you have something . One morning early myself and 2 mates were fishing , after a other buddies Batchelors partythe previous night , we just made it to the spot , baited up , got lines in and we took a snooze , a while later , we woke up , to check on the rods , 2 of the three rods , had slack line , and 2 Kob was lying on the sand , The pulley rig and Circle got them , and they got tired and washed up  , We then got very bad viskoors ....

great story that Lenny :hehe: w;k .It looked like there was 2 hooktraces so I didn't understand where the main line and sinker line would be attached, looked at different pul. rigs and understand fully now, only one hooksnoot... duh and the main-line is attached to the powerswivel on your pic...good idea to use the circle...come on late July and Aug. will definately try it on the kobbies... :clwn :tkx:
