So the weather was awesome this weekend.. Ended up with a last min Charter for Sunday for a couple of hours.. we launched at 11:00 and dropped lines just off vetchies and trolled down to Blue Lagoon and then out over No1 .
Bumped in to Silvertip playing out on the Far side of No1.. stopped for a quick chat before heading back towards the harbour! Sadly No Action on the troll Clients did not want to try for some bottoms as they where just wanting to see if they would turn a pale shade of Green :cnfzd before they decided to do a full day trip!

So I am a little late with this Report but in any case  rather late than never!
As Monday was a Public holiday and Sunday was father’s day  and we had some good weather on the horizon I thought it a good idea to take my  son Colby and His grandpa  Dodger out for  session of some light take trolling with a little bit of bottom fishing! Now  this was going to be the first time Colby would be getting up at 4:30 to come  fishing with me as most of the time we would typically go out from after 7:00  or 8:00 but he has been on at me to take him out fishing like “Daddy” when it  is still “night time”.. In any we spent most of the morning on Father’s day rigging  some new lures dodger had brought down and getting ready for our trip on the  Monday! Colby was very excited so it was an early night for him… any way 4:00  am my alarm goes off and I sneak in to his room expecting the normal response  of No daddy I don't want to.. But instead I was greeted with a bright eyed boy  itching to get going.. So we got dressed and woke Grandpa up.. Grandma was not too  impressed to be woken up so early.. So with the car packed and every one  dressed up warmly we headed to the boat… and we were on our way out the Harbour  by 6:15 after a long wait at the fuel pump.. We stopped on the back line to  look for some bait and let Colby catch something.. But the back line was mobbed  with paddle skis and boats so after a quick drift and a couple of Mozies we  moved on! I headed down towards blue lagoon where we dropped some lines and  worked our way up around the containers and on to the barges! Things where  quiet so we made our way out to No1 and tried to drift a couple of Lives while  we dropped a couple of bottom traces down.. It was not long before Colby was in  to his first “big” fish a nice pan sized snapper which he caught all by himself..  I was a very shocked when he first said daddy I got a fish as I was thinking  wow ok line is not even down yet.. But I was wrong.. He had indeed felt the  bite on the way down and reeled into the fish.. With a couple of Hi 5 he was  smiling and wanted to let his fish go! Which he did and was very pleased to see  it swim away! Dodger was next with a nice sized Tomato Rock cod and a snapper  followed again by Colby catching yet another Snapper. Shortly after this the  Parks board showed up to check for our licenses and make sure everything was in  order so a big well done to them.. Was good to see them being so proactive on  the water! Was not long after that that we packed up lines and headed back! Was  a great day out on the water with my boy and Grandpa!

So the weather this past week has been all over the show! but did manage a night trip on Wednesday Night. went out to see if there are any bek or Daga around.. launched at 6:00pm went out to get some bait.. only managed to find some mozzies no macks or red eye around.... in anycase with the live well loaded we headed out to some of the 80m marks to start our hunt.. current was North to South at about 3km had a couple of good takes but sadly the  :shrk: showed up and nailed us so we moved down to some of the shallower reefs.. didn't get any big takers but did manage a couple of Pan sized snapper and slinger before we called it a night...

Yesterday I had a Aussie couple on board for a couple of hours.. launched at 6:00am and went out to the back line for some livies  but was slow so decided to go against the crowd and head south down to the cutting water was not bad was nice and blue and between 20 and 21 deg saw loads of redeye around but no action on the schools.. with nothing on the troll we decided to go do some bottom fishing.. again nothing fantastic happening working the wrecks and reefs off the bluff, had loads of small rock cod and snapper but nothing of any size to write home about.. we did how ever see a couple of young Wales around dolphins and surprisingly a Sun fish.. I did try get a pic of the sun fish but the sun was reflecting off the water but did manage a small vid but you can't see to much in that either.. was the first time I have ever seen one.  any way was not long after that that we called it a day and made our way back to the harbour..

We also fished south on Saturday , think I saw  you you off  coopers. Must say we scratched for fish and found no bottoms at all.... :cnfzd
Also saw a couple dolphins, whales and had a manta ray come clean out of the water .
Be the change you want to see in the world.

So I know it has been a while since my last post.. but with the damage to the boat and dealing with insurance and having some issues to sort out thinks have take some time. However I am glad to say that thing are back on track and is all goes well I should be back on the water by the end of the month.. if not sooner!

We are looking around for another boat to get us back on the water while we repair Nikao. So if any one knows of some good deals going please send them my way!

As promised here are a couple of pics of the damage! :-(
