Inloop is now closed permanently due to new owners of the farm, not a very nice person and says as long as he owns the place there will be no fishing allowed
my favourite bank angling spot is no more

We spoke to him about 2 months a go, he also told us before that he was going to reopen it but think he changed his mind. To be honest with you Tago is probably as close as you will get to what inloop offers... Nice and peaceful, big barbel and largemouth yellows but you have to work hard for the larger carp. Havent really been impressed by other vaal dam venues since inloop closed.

Wow thats not good, Oranjeville is close to tago and inloop, are the not confusing them with grass carp maybe? The grassies are quite full up in that section where it is more shallow.

It is the Hypophthalmichtys Molitrix they send it to one of the institutes to identify, have a few friends in the area with farms on the dam one of them said this is becoming a problem for them now... Just thought maybe you`ve seen some as its close to your spot.

Gareth to be honest the concerning thing for me is the sizes they caught minnows in a landing net, a few on line of between 5 - 10 kg, but the minnows are the ones that was identified, this means that they are breeding, they did not want to kill schools of juvies before being sure, but as soon as it was identified they did take a very fine net and killed hundreds according to him.... The fact that they are breeding should worry us, as this means they are now invading at a pace we wont be able to stop...

You are right that is cause for concern... Those things breed extremely quickly... I think a culling mission is in order! How did they net them? As there are all sorts of small species that live very close to the shore in the grass, hopefully they do not get exterminated in the process by accident. I have never released a grass carp due to the damage they cause and that silver carp is a grass carp on steroids

They pulled fine nets in the areas they spotted them, carefully released the few fish that wasn't silver carp and they took the silver carp out they use a home made net pulled by 2 people. He said that he can live with the collateral damage if one or 2 ingenious fish did not make it, but the hundreds of Silvers he killed would have caused a lot more damage to the eco system... They are monitoring the situation, but as soon as the water level rise there is not way to try and control them
