Hi Werries - nice post! sure the fish appreciate the extra mile.
I used the same setup (gamakatsu o'shaugnessy instead of bass hooks) in AUS for shad (tailor over here) and was met with critic, argument being to much effort for a fish that bite on anything. That is true for shad, they'll hit a teaspoon when they're on the bite but the difference is when "the going gets tough". Proof was in the pudding when this trace pulled fish and none else did - plus 2 kabeljoutjies (8kg). Like the bass hooks.

Very neat tutorial!!
I make a similar trace but find that glueing the foam to the hook with Superglue also works well.

Excellent tutorial with very detailed photos. Even I (with 2 left hands) can follow these instructions. I will be trying this out shortly at home, as soon as I clear up some of the other projects on my workbench. If I can get my act together in time, I will try them out at Sodwana on the long weekend

Bass hooks works for Kob , very very well . Altough I prefer using the wide gap Worm hooks .
