Sea Worms Legal & Illegal
« on: June 01, 2012, 01:02:34 PM »
Hi guys, I have been struggling to find clear information on certain worms that can or can't be used or taken.

I know each angler has a bag limit of 10 worm per day (Excluding bloodworm) but what worms are you actually allowed to collect and use?

Mussel Worm?
Coral Worm?
Wonder Worm?
Estuarine Worms?
Rock Worm?
Reef Worm?

Also are there any different bag limits for the worms above?

So both Coral Worm and Mussel Worm are illegal? I know they were illegal, but read that since this year you are allowed to collect 20 Mussel Worm and Coral Worm?

I heared that too, but you may NOT use any tool to assist in getting to the worms.  ( Some locals in Arniston illegaly use spades and crow-bars ( can you imagine the damage ) to get to the worms to sell.
I have heared, but not tried, using the juice of a particular fruit gets the worms to come out on there own.  Not sure what damage this process will do to the worms natural enviroment though, hence my reluctance to name the fruit.

Save a Reef and hugg a Parkie . Walks a good alternative to Coral and Mussel worm is Berkley Camo worm .  Works like a charm .  Get yourself a pack of 2 inc and 5 inc best fished on 1/8 oz jighead

Not true guys!!

These are the latest regulations regarding worms...

BY HAND or suction pump ONLY!!

10 of any worm, except MUsselworm and Reef worm which are illegal; and Bloodworm, which the limit is 5.

Edit:Please guys, don't put thumbsucks down as fact! It could land someone in serious trouble with the Law!!

in cleanish water, no selfrespecting steenbras or galjoen will swim past a nice "bossie" of those....

Anycase it will just be another useless law that few will obey....
