Hi everyone

My name is Sean Lange, I was with Brian Davey in developing the Mydo range, back in 1986. We fished together testing and modifying the range until 1988, when we went to market. I was the sales guys in Natal and the Cape.

On Brian's passing, Gill called me up and offered the Mydo to me. I accepted, paid, and collected everything from Brian's garage, the same one in Benoni we worked together in 25 odd years ago.

I started manufacturing again last year and built up a large quantity of stock, which I am now stocking Jhb with.

To those guys who were/are thinking of ripping Mydo's, I urge you to think again. Firstly, a little respect for Brian and his achievement (he won the 1992 Cullinan Design Award for Engineering Excellence in 1990) with his fish swimming Mydo theory. The second reason is that Brian spent the better part of a few hundred thousand Rand - in the 90's, to patent and protect his product. In the US, Oz, Canada, the EU, and obviously here. Tinkering and making heads at home is fine, but selling or going to market will rock the boat enough to stir action.

In the meantime, please look forward to the Mydo being back in the stores. At http://thesardine.co.za/mydo-lures/ you can see the whole new range, and you can buy online, via Payfast, or EFT. I have been using Mydos for nearly 20 years, a lot in Mozambique where, due to the lack of live bait we mainly use sards and halfbeaks, - its a fantastic product and its great they are coming back......I think I only have two or three left.

Yes, we are confirmed in Kingfisher for the Durban area so far. Up north at PnP, and all over Pmb.

In Jhb we have stock in Mias's Benoni (not Woodmead) and Angling Fanatic in Kempton Park.

In Jeffreys Bay up in the big mall at Bait n Tackle.

In Port St. Johns, Driftwood trading at Ferry Point and in Mdumbi at Cool Bananas Spaza shop. Ngcwanguba Store for the coffee bay crew.

On the south coast you can buy Mydos ay the two Lucky's stores, The Tackle Box and the Tackle Centre in Shelley Beach and at Gremlins in Margate.

Soon, East London will have them at Sparg's Spar in Beacon Bay, and we are growing our network as fast as we can get around and see all the places.

We are on our way to CT slowly if anybody wants to meet up and discuss fishing and Mydo's...

Thanks to Ultimate Angling and it's members, for this forum, it has really helped me get news of the return of Mydo out there. Very effective, and yes, I will be advertising!

MYDO Lures is back in operation. I was with Brian in developing and testing Mydo's since 1987, and have "inherited" the company though Gill (who is watching me carefully!)
