Well I've bought my backing and going to fill my reel this weekend. Thanks guys.
Off topic a bit. Was watching the Gadget show on Soweto tv and they were covering the Huawei promotion. Saw a chappie there who looked suspiciously like you Kumz. ???

Finally got my reel loaded with the Nanofil. First put on some braid backing and joined the Nanofil to that using B2B Bimini's joined with a Catspaw. First time actually trying this and got it right. (THANKS REEFS). Now I'm ready for my trip to the Transkei next week.

Make sure you Practice some leader knots on the Nanofil to see which one works for you...

question? if you double the nano and do back to back uni knots with say 10 wraps on the nano side and five on the leader side and finish with a touch of super glue on the nano would this not prevent the knot from slipping.

Nanofil is top class, dont stress....just make sure that you use it for the right application....I use it for light tackle spinning or bait fishing...Good for casting when you need the distance, also the balance of your outfit needs to be suited for the application.

Reefs just had a look at the knot you advised on in the thread above. The 15 turn Uni on the braid and the 3 turn figure 8 on the leader. Did it hold sufficiently for you?

Yes that worked the best for me. But you need to keep your fishing with Nanofil as ultra-light to light tackle fishing. Don't go over 1.5-2oz weights with it.

Thanks Reefs. That is the plan. Will be using it for my small Iron Candy's and drop shot. Taking my Symetre with 20lb braid for the slightly heavier stuff.

Hi Rods - I hope this is just an optical illusion but when I look at your reel spooled it "appears" that the taper is broader at the top. The narrow taper of the cone should be at the top. Some of the reels come with additional washers for this purpose. Maybe Reefman could comment on this further?

This has been an ongoing problem with the Exceler's as far back as I can remember. Ziggy had one that was so badly out and had to be replaced. My Exceler 4000E was great, but my new Exceler Z series does not lay the line down properly. Unfortunately the Exceler's don't come with extra spacer washers, so one needs to improvise...

Had to use a Rivet washer on mine, which is about 4x the thickness of the original spacers, but still doesn't get the angle satisfactory.
