Estuary Fish Growth
« on: December 09, 2011, 08:16:39 AM »
Hi guys after seeing a comment about how fast Couta grow a day when they are juveniles by John F, this got me thinking...

Does anyone know how quickly estuarine fish grow after birth?

Fish like Springer, Barracuda, Stumpnose, Karanteen, Kob, Garrick, Flathead?

I think Tommo is the best person to answer this question.

All I know is that the fooshies in the EC estuaries better eat their pap for the next week, I'm almost on my way and want to catch a sizer or two.

I agree there,

Yeah unfortunately heavy rains have been plaguing the EC estuary and river systems...

Seems like you never got a targeted reply to your first post WK.

Well, the answer, like so many things in nature, is it depends on the species. Some are slow growing like rockods, and others are relatively faster e.g. mullets, etc.

Obviously, most species have  S shaped growth curves (asymptotic growth), which means they grow quite fast in early days then eventually decrease their growth rate.
