Sunday "Three" species .....

We managed to take the gap in the weather on Sunday.  Started off early with a 2kg bonnie, that for some reason my crew thought was a 28kg tuna and was going to spool him... sry .

Then while fishing for snoek, we hook into about a 7kg hammerhead shark on a duster which revved us a bit. Finally just before lines up I hook into something decent on the backline,  :sreel: :sreel: :sreel: :fshn: , I expertly open the throttle and turn the boat and head for deeper water, while screaming to my crew to clear the other lines.. :sreel: :sreel: :sreel: , We get everything sorted and I start fighting the beast, "its got a bit of weight" I said to my first mate while pumping and reeling :fshn: :fshn: ...."Don't force it!" was the advice from my crewman, gaff in hand...."its fighting funny" I replied ...."its on the top.." ......"what the hell is it?"......

Well we ended the day with 1x 2kg Bonnie, 1 x Hammerhead (released) and 1x Checkers packet,....pollution is real

duh :hyst:  Unlucky there George, next time.

Was the Checkers packet size, or did you release it?

Howzit gents, been quiet on this thread for too long.

We launched on Saturday morning and decided to fish south for a change. It was more of a final boat test and to get a feel of the boat for me.

We were fishing between the 70-100m mark down south and at about 8 am went away with 3 skippies which were all safely released.
I then reset the spread and 2 mins later went away with this nice queen dorado. Was so lekker to be back on the water and blood the deck with a lovely fish.

Till next time,

Mag.

Well done Scott great boat and fish, weather hasn't been too good for us weekend anglers but I have been out a couple trips on Greg Fullers boat doing a bit of bottom fishing which has been rather successful landing some big captain fines and soldiers. Till the weather allows us see you on the water. :fshn: :fshn: :fshn:
A bad days fishing is better than sitting at home moping.

I took a small gap in the weather (because they have been few and far between) on Saturday morning, it was cold rainy and misty. We hadn't got the rods rigged and were just off shore, when we saw a flock of birds just off the breakwater heading north at quite a speed, we managed to get a popper out and on the first pop it was taken by a 3 kg bonnie. Once landed and sorted the school had moved about a kilometre north so we chased it down in a choppy sea, hoping to get a better fish. Successive casts fell short and failed to produce another strike, so we set the trolling rods. Within meters we had a shad and a sada sada, they were so thick you could see the lines hitting them as you got into the school.  We then decided to go for tuna or dorado, but the sea got unpleasant and we had no takers, we were back by 9h30.

On getting to the wash bay at DSBC we noticed that there was a jam ...which was strange cause only a few boats launched. What has happened is of the 3 wash bays 2 have been taken over by a pay system with a guy running a boat/car wash. I wanted to pull into an open bay to wash my boat, but was told I couldn't and had to wait for the only "free" wash bay to open up!

So if you want to wash your boat yourself at DSBC good luck because when its busy you will have to wait.

Good Morning All

Season's Greetings and a Prosperous reel screaming year 2019 ahead for all. prty :sreel:

It has been a while, 4 months plus i last fished, myself FFF and FFF junior launched on Boxing day, at club by 4am to beat the rush at a total of 79 boats launched. The sea was %^&9 to say the least, big choppy seas ( I almost ended up in the drink), heavy mist and unpredicted rain and a screaming current 5km p/h, but anyway fish we must as it was the only decent looking gap in a while after constant days of NE than SW and many more similar days predicted keeping everyone shore bound except those who brave it and those with bigger boats. With sea conditions miserable we changed our game plan, got a few livies and proceeded to No.1 after 3 or 4 drifts myself and FFF junior opened our  :dor: season with a double up. Made a few more drifts and got a Bonnie of about 7 kilos. Called it quits by 10h00 as it was like a parking lot at No.1 with 14 boats counted, 3 of us drifting baits and the rest driving the ocean flat in circles. The sea was settling but we decided a lekker brekkie and coffee was in order.

We bumped into isiVuba on the water with his Son and Mate, sorry Mike always forget your mates name. duh Was good to catch up with Mike at the club.

We only managed to launch once these holidays.
We launched out of glenmore on the 30th. Had Shaun and Don from scouseafrican join me and the plan was to target marlin.

We were fishing the dropoff on the 100m and working the ledge looking for a black which unfortunately we never got.

We did however get 2 nice dorries and the biggest bonnie i have ever seen. No decent pics unfortunately.

Some crazy stuff been going on. In the transkei we had days of strong ne, sea temp of 15 odd Dec, then it would blow west for a day sea would warm to 22 odd but green soup, only for east again and back to 15 Dec, and so it went. No current. Got 3 strikes all holiday, 1 small   :dor:, one big strike out deep but no hook up and one lost  :billf: had one  :billf:swim past rhe boat when bottom fishing in soup but it was going somewhere and typical, went past the bow and not to the ba k where the mackerel were waiting.

Actually they never went to a FAD, just found a purple patch at 26 deg, I found one 13kms off Glenashley three weeks ago......as the distance and location suggests it was a real noob attempt - one plastic buoy and far too much shadecloth
