Looking good, only problem is its the Water Scooters comp this weekend. So that means a 03h00 launch  :fshn: :fshn: :fshn:

We fished yesterday, first on the water to beat the crotch rocket comp, got bait and headed to the ships, FFF jnr managed a dart dorrie at ship one, tried several ships and he also got a Bonnie 8kilo, chummed several marks, saw Dorrie jumping but nadda. tried bottoms but dead, water very cold.

My boys blanked, biggest fish was a 24kg tuna. Not a fun start apparently , bobbing around for ever waiting for the start. Could take a look at the Ponta comp, around 100 skis launched in under 30 minutes!
Put something exiting between your legs, buy a jetski !

We launched Sat. The night before we made the call to give the ships/dorries game fish a miss as we suspected that there would be 100 boats/skis doing the same thing, good thing as we heard there was sometimes 5 boats on a ship and lines been crossed and choice words swapped. Anyway we decided to do bottoms to look for some chow for the pan, managed good bait, plenty red eye and Macks and size macks too. We managed some decent bottoms, had live baits out while drifting aimlessly hoping a passer by would be interested but nadda.

Attached pic of a decent English boated.

Decided against an early launch (wasn't keen on a black Saturday!! :craz: (bat) as with boat inspections and good weather I knew it would be a bunfight so we launched at 8:30 and were greeted by very cold 20.8deg water inshore, headed straight out to look for warmer water and found 23deg close to 20kms offshore just over the 100m line, pulled south along the current line and ended up with 2 dollies, one of about 6 and one peanut that was released, also got a big kawa on the 50m line on the way in - nice day with a bit of rain but great to be on the salt again!!! :rck" :rck" :rck"

Also noted very cold water averaging 20.5 to 21.5, also was watching huge bank of rain alot deeper but lucky it did not come in.

Launched in the dark and was at the ship as the sun was rising, managed 1 small dorrie before the other boats arrived, as Big D said a lot of choice words were passed then we decided to move on, we ended up with 3 x monster bonnies of 8, 8.5 and 9.5kg. was a good day out but some guys have no idea what they are doing and need to learn some manners and move onto another ship when someone is there before them.

CLS , dude hoping for manners from ski boaters may be stretching the imagination a little. So many times they come charging up and past in the hope  of seeing where you are fishing or if you are catching. I don't fish weekends any more for obvious reasons.
Then you get them water scooters too.
Just check when the snoek arrive,  some ou catches  2 , plasters it all over facebook and on Saturday you have an instant fleet of muppets driving all over each other.
Its the same with the ships and fads. The proper commercials are going to huge expense setting their fads for summer. Ever wondered why they are getting further and further from Durban?.  Most are now in excess.of 50 km from Dbn. Keeps the bloodsucker's away.
Perfect example is a short while ago we beat a well known Dbn commercial to his fads by half an hour. So we waited and asked if they were his. He said yes so we backed off and fished behind him . That's his living. Later in the day we wanted to fish some very far marks but wouldn't have enough fuel to get home. So we asked him to lend us some fuel and were given 4 cans to replace before next day. Awesome!!!!!
There is etiquette to be applied when fishing.  This seems to to be lacking nowadays. Now I am not that old , younger than Mike Pike anyways, but good old fashioned manners go a long way

If you are on the sea,  don't follow a boat around or go charging up to them spraying water all over. Stop  a way off and  talk to them.

Its much the same on the rocks. Ifthere are people fishing on a spot , chat to them and ask if they mind you joining them. It may lead to an invite to fish with them and even to some "secret " spots. You may even learn something.Particularly if you are not a local. I do this when ever I am out of my home ground. You need information. It all depends how you go about obtaining it.
When somebody does catch a fish, contain yourself don't rush over and take his spot while he is baiting up.

Its probably much the same on inland waters. One doesn't park next to some guy fishing for carp with 4   or 5 rods out , set up on top of him and proceed to cast over him and make a general bloody nuisance of yourself. FFS
Same with bassing.
