With Mark putting work before fishing, we finally got a gap to fish yesterday which was a bonus as Adolf was in town so another mini UA social was on the cards. Both KZN boys rocked up at the club in jackets and tracksuit pants only to find Adolf waiting there in shorts and shirt....

There weren't many boats launching which was surprising considering the conditions so we were on the water at first light and before the sun was up.

Plan was to target couta first so we headed off and got some livebait. We pulled for about an hour with no pulls or showings on the finder. We decided to move off to the jigging and when we pulled the baits in, found that one of the mozzies had the top of its head bitten off.

We got to the jigging marks and it wasn't long before we went tight. I hooked into an amberjack, my first and i quickly learned how strong they were. With a few "encouraging" words from Mark i managed to get him off the bottom and had him on the boat. After a few pics it was safely released to fight another day. Super chuffed with that fish!

We carried on jigging and landed a few bonnies (released) and 2 tuna. This jigging story is hard work but well worth the rewards. The showings on the marks we were fishing were incredible (will post some screenshots later) and it's definitely something i'll be working on... just need to work on the fitness (hey Adolf??) hahaha

We then started chumming for tuna and after a slow start the fish started coming on the bite. While we were chumming, i was throwing a maxrap into our drift and picked up a tuna which was boated. As i got the fish to the boat, the chum rods went away with the tuna skelm biting our hook baits. After a while, the bite came on properly and we hooked into some decent fish and despite our best efforts, we got taxed each and every time. We lost 5 decent tuna on chum and another decent size on the maxrap before calling it a day when we ran out of bait.

While we were chumming and moving back up onto our drift we got to see a couta breach the water at least as high as the t-top after he'd smashed a bonnie  :shk

Another cracking day on the water with some top blokes, definitely need to do it again  :uarocks

Well went fishing yesterday for Kieran's birthday. We went with his friend Kayden and his dad Geoff.
Launched at 6:20 and went through to blue lagoon for a snoek but had no luck. There were quite a few boats but saw nobody catching.
We decided to get bait at the barge and things were very slow. Only thing we got were a couple of shad.
Next plan we decided to do a bit of bottom fishing so headed to one of my marks and set for the drift. Both boys went tight and landed a couple of nice slinger. Was great to see Kayden got 3 at once on a bass stick and did that rod bend. Fished quite hard and the boys got a few nice bottom fish.
Kieran landed up with the biggest fish of the day a 4Kg Englishman on a small stick. You should of heard him, Drag screamed a few times so he had a blast. Really nice day out with the boys.

Lekker FFF, we were also toiling for snoek yesterday, must of missed each other, I must admit I do prefer to keep an eye on the back line.
