:-(  I had to skip this trip, been battling for a while now with gout in left hand and wrist, so did not want to be in the way on the deck if not 100%, but sure the lads gonna smash the fish and i will missing out on a lekker trip on the Scouse. Sure there will be a next time.

a mate of mine launched off Richards bay yesterday.

They got 1 blue of 187kg's on 50lb standup.
Unfortunately it was badly hooked and tore the whole gill plate on one side, so they had to boat it.

Deon, is not one to keep these fish, so he was really bleak it had to be boated, but unfortunately thats how it is sometimes..

Will post a pic later.

Last day of school holidays so took Kieran out fishing this morning. My Father in law Bob also came and we launched at 5:00 this morning. Managed to get bait pretty quickly and got a nice Sarda sarda same time on the barge. Kieran lost a nice one right by the boat.

There was a big swell running and it started raining. Heavy mist also made it seem like a bad day to have gone fishing. We managed to find the closest ship in the mist but was not easy. Tried couple time around the ship and not even a touch.

Decided we were not far from cassions would try there for a tuna. Put out baits and waited. Boat next to us got a bonnie and then got taxed so said new plan needed. We headed out to No1 area and i trawled live baits slowly around.
Managed to get a good pull and Bob landed his first ever Dorado so a big smile.
I set another live bait out and got picked up again. Lost a nice YFT under the boat hook pulled. Anyway my Cell phone battery was now flat so had to call it a day.

We had a 3am launch on Sunday to try beat the mad rush... launch didn't go quite as planned and ended up with the trailer and boat both going in. Not to worry, the Skipper stayed bone dry and warm as Don and FFF quickly got it sorted... straf dops for Don although he swears he hooked it up properly.

Anyway, eventually got out to the barge and started fishing for bait which was a struggle until first light. We then headed off to our marks and FFF quickly got his first pull which spat the livie. Next drift and we both got pulls with FFF getting a proper hookup and passing the rod to Don. My fish put on a quick aerial display before spitting the bait. Don then landed his first dorrie on Scouse. We had a few more pulls after that but no solid hookups and decided to test out some new marks with not much luck.

Good day on the water with some top blokes, definately taking a rain cheque on Umpa joining us though...

Well done Shaun, Don and Ant good to see the  :dor:  around. As for your launch Shaun -  :hyst:  that must have been something to behold. Big time straf dops there. Luckily it was in Durbs, would not have been so funny at Shelly!

HEADSUP!! Midas Durban are revamping their fishing section to cover all major brands - Daiwa/Shimano and are having a 30% discount on everything.
The ELBE Couta Pro(great couta rod) was R320 and is now R220 - The Powercurve(great snoek rod) was R300 now R200 - a set of the Fuji guides that is on these rods costs over R100!! w;k
The Elbe Yellowtail 6' looks pretty good with decent Strong eyes is R195.

Are all these beautiful  :dor: coming from the FADS? I have heard these FADS are bad things and are responsible for a serious decline in inshore catch of  :dor: as well as serious damage to ships props ?
