Might head down to Shelly tomorrow with the ski and take the boat out on Sunday. Would've been keen to fish Aliwal but haven't launched there in over 12 years....

@Shaun - the launch was good this morning here in Shelly and the sea flat. My mates got 5 nice tuna and got buzzed by a decent black marlin on Protea. Just be careful of the launch tomorrow - nasty East swell at short period firing into the bay....

Shot bud, keeping an eye on the forecast at the moment. Worst case I'll fish Durban and go chase a dorrie...

I'm considering getting a pair of Tyrnos 30's for the just in case :billf: or bigger  :yft: that you come across while fishing for dollies and sails, I know that Prego and Bwana have them, the question is - what rod to match them with, I prefer 7' or maybe 6'6" - must be reasonably priced :dunno:
Better still - anyone selling a matching pair of #30 outfits??

The Penn Legion standup is the replacement of the original (and excellent) Penn Tuna Stick. The right size to match to the 30 size reels is the 15-24kg standup they go for around R800 each as Prego mentioned. Great tuna rods, certainly put the brakes on a yellowfin but they are around 5'6" if you want something slightly longer then I agree with Shaun those JW 601215 rods from Shag are the bomb as allrounders. Match the reel to some strong 30lb line (I use Maxima Ultragreen for tuna fishing) and you're all set up

The Jw 601215 rods look like the bomb as mentioned, but their eyes look really crap. the price of the rod is good, but is it worth it witht he crap eyes. if i replace the eyes then suddenly its not such a bargain.
need a new 10kg stick to take to kenya in 4 weeks for sails with tld 25. probably buy a few for the trip as last time ended up fishing sails on 30/50 rods as thats what they had, no fun at all. '
