Sorry for taking so long with this report but have been fishing none stop since my return from JHB after spending the holidays with the family.. any way fishing has been tough.. we have had to work hard for some trips.. i can however say we have had a couple of really good trips.. first has to be the trip on the 29th of Decembet that officially opened out 2015 marlin season on board Fishing Adventure.. it was a late start as on route to DSBC i saw some sparks coming off the rhs wheel on the trailer on the high way.. so i pulled off to check and felt the hub was very hot ..as i was not to far from home i decided to head back only to make it half way where i pulled into a fueling station and parked safly.. gave the mrs a call to come pick me up and take me home to try get some bearings.. lucky for me i have one second had set from a couple of months prior. .Any way long story short.. i managed to change them.. thanks to Eric Cotton for the help he happened to be in the area.. After all we launched about 11:00 tried for some live bait but could not find. .. we then dropped lines and trolled over no1 looking for some tuna and bonnies.. working our way out the the ships.. when the rigger snapped and the reel screamed to life.. only to come to and abrupt stop.. i knew then we had something with a pointy face playing.. so i turned and worked the area... i i passed our first point of pic up.. the long corner went screaming away... I could not see any jumping so thought it was a nice size tuna.. only to be proven wrong not 30 seconds later when she lept from the water...we whede clearly under gunned as the line peeled from the reel a tld25 spooled with 30lb line to a.120lb leader to a 200lb trace. . So i cleared the remaining lines and gave chase... 2 hours and 5m8n later we had her on the leader.. a nice +- 180kg black marlin.. we managed a couple of quick snapshots before she busted through the 200lb trace. . We where almost 25km or umdloti when we landed her and had a 45km run back to dcbc.. was an epic catch and the first for both thr client and the season...

that's an absolute beauty on a TLD25 and a Penn Seabuoy 6' rod which is the 601215 blank, it just shows what they are capable of

Ok back in the land of computers. Went out on the 31st with about 119 boats launching from DSBC. We went to my old spot to try for some Tuna but not takers. I did manage to get this little beauty though, out of 119 boat only 20 fish where caught

Nice Mike, 119 boats 20 fish, thats from the honest okes, nobody tells of their catches anymore. But being good fish coming out.

Launched yesterday off Shelly Beach, forecast of a light NE with a moderate SW later in the day. Sketchy launch with a few standups on the sand bank in the middle of the bay but everyone got out safely. Our plan to start looking for dorado on the colour line off Sheppy looked to be the right game plan as we arrived there to find a beautiful brown colour line with lots of action - birds and bait working. 3 hours later without a pull it was evident something was wrong - next thing the SW arrived out of nowhere pushing up to 18knots and turned the sea into a washing machine. By 10am we were going to throw in the towel but chose to head out to Protea to see what conditions were like. It proved to be the right choice as the sea was bearable on the reef and the west slowly dropped down to around 8-10 knots. We went on the drift and immediately started getting yellowfin between 8-15kg. We ended up with 6 keepers and released 4 juniors to grow bigger (see you when you're 21............kg). The highlight for me was dropping my jig into a beaut showing on the back drop of southern pinnacle and getting a solid hookup on a bus that had me railed against the gunnel on full lock on my Stella, a bit of back and forth and I finally got the fish away from the bricks and on its way up to the boat when it got taxed by a monster Zambo about 10m from the boat. We called big GT but weren't surprised when I brought in the head of what would have been a bus yellowtail around 15kg. What a waste of a good fish and not the end to the fight that I wanted. A worthy adversary wasted. A few good yellowfin came out later in the day with Hooker landing a beauty of 27kg.

I launched port Edward yesterday with a mate on his boat "windguru"

took a couple on the nose in the launch and got nice a wet.

We got bait easily and worked our way south with a very quick current.

The plan, was to look for some decent bottoms, but with the current it was going to be tough.

We found some good showing on a pinical and went down, I went on with a slinger and a bek, lost the bek on the way up, and dave went double up on bek, also lost one on the way up. His bek was 9kg so a real nice one..

We thought we were in for a good day, but for the life of us could not get back onto the mark and get the drift right. When we did get down , we kept getting snagged and with 24 ounce sinkers, get lost on every drop it was turning out to be expensive!!

We then headed out to look for dorado, found nice water at 26 degree's, but was lifeless....
Eventually got a pull on the shotgun, and fish almost spooled us on its first run, then popped the leader.

So not a very productive day!

Got back to durbs today, and have spent the day looking and testing boats!
Still on the hunt for a 17ft..

Launched this morning we got lucky my son's biggest dorrie so far, also broke his light dropshot rig
