Anybody else going to brave the big sea's on Sunday. Think it should be interesting.

Chris from where I sit and can monitor don't think many/any will have ventured out. Sea was ugly today again.Out of interest, do you Dbn guys think that they will ever dredge the harbour mouth again. Do they still dredge at all?
Cancelled my trip this morning.. arrived at DSBC..sea was huge and swell was breaking out towards the turning boy.. some of the swells where breaking in the harbour channel. Was a 5m swell running off the south pier. Will be out on Tuesday after it all settles down..
Well i decided on saturday morning looking at the sea that sunday morning should be fine just big swells so packed the boat and was ready.I had decided to launch in the early hours and try for a bek before it got light. Was at the club 03:30 with Kieran got the boat ready and the other 2 crew arrived. Both other crew are ballies so lets say no more.Had a look at the sea and watched the short dumpers for a while and decided lets do this thing. Still pitch black but should be fine.Tractor threw us in at 03:50 and did i have sports with the short dumpers. Turned the boat got ready and took 2 waves in a row over the front before we even started. This was getting interesting sopping wet and a bit fresh. I got out into the bay and started getting everything ready to head out to the deep. It was overcast and could see very little. By the time i reached the end of north pier i was watching in the direction of blue lagoon and started thinking best i sit and have a better look. The waves were rolling and they were massive. Every wave seemed to have a massive spray coming off it, thats when i realised they breaking out in the deep. Turned to look at south pier and the breakers were breaking for about 600m left of the pier. Time for a U turn. It was like looking for a gap to head out to the deep. Turned to the crew and informed them its time to beach, We can have another look when its light. Needless to say that was the end of our days fishing. Attached it a pic of the waves breaking out at sea when it got light, lucky i made the right call and did not try proceed any further. This pic does not even give half the picture it was. Waves were going over south Pier.
You made the right call!
