Well we launched yesterday morning. Being the end of school holidays i decided to take Kieran and his mate fishing.

The bait were showing of the finder but not biting so struggled to get bait.
Eventually decided to try for snoek after we had only got 3 mozzies.

Pulled up and down at Lugs but the fish had lock jaw. The spoon however did produce a bit of fun with both kids getting small bonnies, a couple of silkies but no Snoek.

Went to the bait marks and let them fish bottoms while i put out a live bait for a YFT. The mozzie was not working. Could see that there were fish around but no takers. Eventually managed to get a mack on a shad trace and swam that.
The kids managed to catch quite a few shad but all were just undersize so was quite frustrating.

When we eventually decided that it was beer time started packing up and the live bait got picked up. Good hook up started chasing and bitten off. The sharks again.

Anyway was good to have the kids out having fun on the sea even if it was only small fish biting.

Had a good day on the water today, launched with 3xF and his son, pulled pink rapala rattlers around which did the trick, 2  :yft: landed, a 16.2 caught by FFF junior with only slight help from myself and FFF senior and 6 kilo, dropped a third at the boat. Changed to plan B and search for a Bek or Dagga, only thin landed and the biggest was myself, managed to imbed a 6o big gun in my right leg, tossed my bottom trace out, felt my leg jerk forward sinkr broke off look down to see my new piercing.

One two calls to Greg and we met him on the water, they managed 2 nice YFT and a Dagga, so followed them a bit and managed a Ziggy fish, a nice Spotted Grunter 2.3 kilo. Called it quits at 13h30 headed back for a

Good to See, Greg, Corks and Justin on the water, Fritz on his rocket with ST also Maganything and crew.

Have a brilliant week everyone

Only after all the drama, thought, damn should have taken a pic, but thought never crossed my mind at the time. Lesson learnt, now have proof that the trick to removing hooks works, and a few bite marks into the batton.

Leg is good today, tender around the puncture hole but good, no infection so far.

Now thats a pic to show your mates at school :rck"

We did a late8 launch on Saturday, lots of guys gave launching a miss thinking the SW was going to pump but when we came back into it it was only 12-15kts - got strings of mackerel (bait stock is up) at the barge and did some drifts  :brnz:  :brnz: :-(
On the way home got a snoek of about 2.5kgs and dropped one - stoopid mistake with the drag too tight and the hook pulled, not too bad because not too many fish came out. :-)

Anyone fishing this weekend?
I'm hoping to launch on Sun if the weather holds and try for some bek or dagas before it gets bright and then maybe make a turn around the shallows for a snoek or two!
