There has been good action lately - some big tuna around, geelbek, ambers, yellowtail and of course garrick.

We had the most unbelievable day on the big blue today!
With the forecast looking so good today down the south coast, I made the decision to pack the boat and head down to munster to fish today!
We left Durban on Friday night after work at 8:30pm and made the two hour trip down south!
We launch glenmore with relatively flat swells but the sea had a slight chop! The beach was freezing this morning with the bakkie temp saying 10degrees!

We managed to get bait fairly easily, and with some lovely mackies in the live bait well, I made the call to try for couta! We set course for sikombe and after a 30min run we had lines in the water just before 8. We pulled for couta until 10 with no luck!

We headed out to try for some bottoms! Now bottoms has been something I have been trying to learn properly for a long time. On our first down, brad and I both went tight and got 2 very nice slinger. We set the drift and I got one more slinger and brad got a nice yellow belly of 5kg's. After these fish, the spot went dead so I set course for another mark which was about 12km away.
We got here and on my first down I went down with a live mozzie, I got a nice press but missed the fish. Brad managed a bronze bream on a small piece of chokka he left on the top hook and this was released!
We then went back up to the mark and I put another livie down and so did brad. We both went tight almost instantaneously and I was into a proper fish!
It's not often I have had to back wind on the KP and this fish was giving me a tussle! My first thoughts were a big daga, but the longer the fight went on I was thinking a hammer as there were some big head shakes. After about 10mins I finally got the fish up and it turned out to be my first ever cracker!
I have been after one of these for ages and I couldn't believe my luck!
Unfortunately the fish had popped badly so I didn't want to release it and risk it dying! So we decided to boat it! Believe me, it's not something I wanted to do!
After we landed the cracker we called it a day as we had more than enough fish!
We ended the day with 2 x yellow belly's, 5 slinger and 1 cracker!

Ps. I must give a big shout out to gregf (even though he ain't with us anymore) he has helped me learn to bottom fish and given me plenty advice over the last year or so! Thanks boet!

Yesterday there was action from 2 Black Marlin  :billf: :billf:
Inkosi got one and landed it off Umhlanga
A guy on a Paddle Ski hooked one up on Yozuri's but did not land it
That's awesome for August and cold water
Just shows you that they are around most of the time just that we don't fish for them all year.

Awesome fish Scott! Congrats  (clap)

Nice to hear the  :billf: are still around, there have been one or two around Protea as well lately, a few sightings but no hookups.

Nice Scott :rck"
We went for the big snoek that were caught last week at the La Lucia to Umhlanga stretch, not a pull but for thousands of shad making for a frustrating morning(lift the ban please!!) I think that everybody blanked including me except for a nice fat shad for the pan, a seapike and a small blacktip kingie.
Just Fish!!!

I heard the shad were out of control on Saturday even taking the snoek trace without the fillet  :-)

Ok this thread has got so quiet that I am hoping to contribute tomorrow.

I am going on a charter at Shelley beach and that will be the first time this year that I manage to wet a line. So I am over excited.
Either I am fishing or dreaming of fishing!
