I was very fortunate to pop in at an old frequented spot of mine with my son and a friend of ours on the 6th July 2011.
The place is located at Mvoti mouth, Stanger , accessible through private cane lands, with a permit from the farm owner (60 permits per annum) or a lonn........nnng walk from Blythedale beach leaving yr car un-attended ....
We drove down to the parking area to scout the waters, beach, and exposure of rocks (changes from being covered with sand , to exposed within days and with change of tides). We had just come back from Durban on our way home after stocking up on odds & ends for the tackle box natuurlik, & the weather was on its head

with strong wind, rain and just a gr8 day for OBS , nice fire & all the "TERMINAL TACKLE " that goes with such a day......
Anyway - we observed 2 guys braving

the odds on the other side of the beach & river busy fishing & it was not a minute and the one guy was VAS ........

We watched him play the obvious large specimen & decided to brave the cold , crossed the river and after another 15 minutes he landed a whopper garrick of about 14kg

Jerry the angler was excited & was cursing

his fishing buddy who the whole time gave advice on "do this , tighten yr slack, give some line, back-up.... retrieve line , take him with the next wave, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed watching others anglers catching fish for once, instead of holding rods ourselves on that day & the comment & advice yr buddy gives you !
Jerry was quick to show us his bud's garrick caught an hour earlier, at about 16:00, & which must have been a 10kg specimen.

AWESOME

They also caugt the bag limit of shad.
Saturday the 9th , we fished the upper regions of Amatikhulu tyowards Mtunzini , & decided to re-locate to Mvoti mouth for the mid-day afternoon session. Bad idea ......

tide was receding and not a good time for garrick at that spot... but anglers arrived during early morning during high tide caught nice garrick of about 8-10 kg with lovely sizable shad.
All in all it, was gr8 for once to observe anglers who still brave the weather which was real bad on the 6th, to do what they do best & what they love doing nl

& more
o watch what was happeninig
I took video clips of Jerry in action using my cell , but due to my own eagerness to watch the action & brave the weather , the quality did not end up to gr8.

What a feeling driving away after seeing such a lovely fish being landed, & just imagine what goes through ones mind wrt how u yrself will be catching the next one , tactics , techniques , & discussions with yr own buddy .........

thats is what we enjoy most & keeps the mind in gear !!!!!!!!!!
