Thanks FEDU. Double X is also launching their X Braid soon. These spools will be available in 300 and 600m spools. I see the FINS braid available only in 30 - 80 pound. Do you know the quality of these?

Nope Sorry, I am actually afraid of IGFA braid due to the no strech factor, it will probably mean we will have to use much lighter initial drags.

A 10lb mono will allways be more forgiving than a 10lb braid but we will shurly adapt :-)

Sorry about the hijack here guys but last one  w;k

FEDU 100% but braid with topshot is strictly speaking illegal IGFA but now it will not be as both lines will be IGFA rated. Helps with line capacity when targeting huge fish on light gear will also help to not continuously re spool for comps and one can just replace topshot. An example will be a 50W up the drag to 80w and now capacity same as 80w so now you have a strong outfit but yet lighter to enable some extreme standup fishing without fear of being spooled.

Looking forward to the new era.

PH,

When you see a fish chasing your lure do not change anything that you were doing as this is what got him interested in the forst place, often if you change speed or retreive the fish will leave your lure.
If your fish strikes and misses, then stop immediatly, drop you tip into the water and even feed some line out, often this will induce a second strike.
I like to fish tip town mostly, and usually do not need to strik at all, just lift the rod to the side and then up and reel hard letting the drag and the fish do the rest, with braid you never need to strike, with mono let him run if he is bigger tighten the drag and when you feel it stretch pump up once and reel hard.
Once your fsh is on, NEVER give him slack line, don't play with him, FIGHT HIM to the boat as quick as you can.
Lastley fishing lures with the rod up is mostly for surf fishing with long rods, for most lures from a boat or ski your rod is shorter and you keep the tip down low as a rod held high will almost gurantee and miss strike and slack line, in addidtion the wind will blow a bend also causing you to loose direct contact with your lure and your strike.
Hope this helps.
I never close my eyes.

I think i understand the point that Barry was making. Basically he is saying don't strike when you see a fish hitting your lure. This is how many fish are missed. If you see a fish smashing your lure, or even feel the bump do not strike, just keep reeling as you were. The time to strike is once the fish has your rod bent and the line is tight, then just give it a nod or two to set the hooks properly, in many cases (particularly with braid) the hooks will be set anyway.

All pefectly explained above - all I can think on who on earth would NOT like to see a massive GT crashing your popper time after time then eventually hooking up on the third or fourth hit - adrenalin rush of note - my eyes open wider. 80% of the fun is the initial hook up for me. :sml:
