Mike is gonna land me in the tjoekie in about 4 days time with this new theory.
But really, what about traces? I mean bottom are so fat? You'll have to run another string of trebbles down the belly?

Hi jeanswart, I use the same trace that I use for mackeral, (slinger, sand soldier are No 1) At Tugela we used snapper salmon deadly.
A bad days fishing is better than sitting at home moping.

Caught a number of dollies on sand soldier(if you are catching sand soldiers then the skipper has no idea where the bait spot is!!!) and bait of choice for couta in Inhambane Bay is lizzard fish, catch them with rapalas along the sandbanks in 3m of water.
Just Fish!!!

Single J-Hook crimped on to leader, this goes through the eyes

or

Single Circle and then bridled to the fish with copper wire.

300lb leader 2.4m long connected to your wind on as is normal.

If windy or rough seas I do not use circles.

Those little brown grouper items - sorry I dont know what they are called but they are absolultely deadly on big GT - I'll post you pics later. Need a sinker on main line ( rubber band0  to get it down to just off the bottom.
