Great to see so much interest.
I agree with Rory ito venue, oord Nebo is a bit far.
How about Eastco guys, also has tons of water, fairly easy wading and good facilities?

Do you guys prefer the Sat, or would the Sunday be more suitable ?
If we caught fish on every trip, it would be called " Catching". We don't, and that's why it's called "Fishing".

It's looking like the Sat 5th of March, is the day. Rory, will you be able to make that day ?, and if so, what are the chances of a keg ?  (clap) :happ: :rck"

I'll be there - klaar ge-organise!  (hap Being at the mercy of the flow rate, its pointless ordering a keg - everyone must bring their own liquid refreshments.
All the guys going for their first "Vaal Shuffle" please check this thread:

This is the setup I recommend you start with, its not the be all and end all of setups but has accounted for plenty plenty fish.

Silly question, do we need waders ?

Also for the fishing we going to be doing, do we use floating, intermediate or sinking line ?

The reason i ask is i am setup with floating line, i know the tippet can do the necessary sinking when needed

I am clueless when it comes to this facet

No you don't need a wader, although it makes it more comfortable.

Waders are up to you. I think more important though are good non slip shoes!! The wading in the Vaal can be nasty!! Ja we'll fish floating lines, not that you'll end up using much of the flyline.

Perhaps this trip needs to be discussed in more detail at that watering hole of yours in Midrand on Friday   :hnthnt:

The guys are saying this should be the best one yet! It will be the first one that I am missing ever!!! Got to be in Durban for some family obligations!! My Dad will be there though, dunno how he got out of the wedding...

No, not before the convention. Started on the black shading last weekend. Just going with Glen and Tory to see how the pieces that they enter do. Tory especially is entering a few stunning pieces. Sucks you cant make it.
I'm a weekend drinker, I start on Saturday and end on Friday - Bill Hicks
