We decided to celebrate a friend of mines birthday at Leeuwkloof - my idea because I love the place!!

We arrived Friday 14/1 afternoon and proceeded to the big dam to make a few casts.
2 Rainbows caught between 2 anglers

Saturday 15/1
6 Rainbows caught between 4 anglers

Sunday 16/1
5 Rainbows
1 Brown caught between 2 anglers

Weather: Rainy all the time
Flies that produced: Godards cadice, green booby, black booby, mudler minnow, green dragon, white death

The smallest trout caught was about 1,5kg and the largest over 3kg

Sorry for no pics but it was raining all the time and I did not carry a camera.

Leeuwkloof produced again like it always does!!! The accommodation is very nice an reasonably priced. The fishing is awesome year round. The Van's are very generous hosts and I recommend Leeuwkloof as a great family and fly fishing venue

Nice report Woerman sounds like u got some monster Trout! Def want to give Leeuwkloof a try sometime heard so many good things about it!

It was nice to have you at the farm. Glad you had good catches and some nice big ones. It was tough fishing in the rainy weather but you can at least show something for your efforts. See you soon!!

Its 2 hours from my house. 16km past the Engen on the N4 at Delmas. The Van's can give more info.

A social can be good out there - just don't break the place because I like going there often.

Thanks fr the report, I am glad you enjoyed the weekend as the weather was dismal. Sorry I could not spend more time with you as we had to do some work and I had to come back to Middelburg on Saturday afternoon. I belief you and Franco had a good time.Congrats with fish you have caught.

Definitely on the bucket list for this year sometime... just need someone to lend me some fly gear and show me how to use it!

Dont worry about gear I have six decent sets of fly gear what the guys use if they do not have gear. So just come we will sort you out. Bring family with and come enjoy!!1

We had plenty rain and a bit more. It is so wet here the frogs are all sitting on the iron polls on the farm.They are fed up with rain.

We had two dams broken in the kloof but luckily the big one with the trophy trout kept enough water so that they are not lost. We will be able to fix it when the flow is less before the winter. We will also add another dam at the houses before the end of the winter.

I will load my gumboots and rain gear for the work that needs to be done in the veld next week.
