Good day all.

I used to come on this site and enjoy reading all the forums and reports, looking at pictures and learning some tips or so.
It was a site where all could enjoy, experienced fishermen, micro, spinning and others without any rude comments like other social apps.

I am not an experienced fisherman nor do I have any expensive tackle, but I want to try something to see if anyone is interested in reading. It may work or it may not.

I am based in KZN, the south coast mainly, I fish from shore and rock n surf.
My goal is, I want to try and catch most of the edible fish species from shore, from the smallest to biggest, easiest to hardest etc. in KZN waters.
I will not fish for protected species or out of season fish. If the fish is legal size, I will take home.

I will post what I can and when I can.

It may take I long time, but I am determined.

This week, we should have some low tides, so I will be taking my wife and son for some rock pooling at night and fishing with my son.
Will post pictures if we see anything worth seeing and start the list if we catch.

Good afternoon guys.

I did not get a chance to go this weekend as we have been having a few thunderstorms in the afternoons and at night.
I do have a small report for you guys.
@ Cuttings beach in Merebank, Friday afternoon a massive Male Bull Shark was caught. It was measured but not sure if I heard correctly but over 200cm total length. My Wife has a picture of them releasing it, I will post as soon as she sends it to me. Did not see the bait used but rod and reel was Okuma SLX.

@ Anstey's beach Sunday afternoon in the wind and rain, a nice size Kingfish was caught next to the tide pool, sorry no picture of this one and could not make out the species, but close to a meter in length. If I manage to find a picture of the catch on local groups, I will post.
Not sure of bait used or tackle used.

Hi, its a Zambezi, shark was grey, rounded head, stumpy built and dorsal fin seemed to match.
Photo may not do justice to this shark as light was low and the yellow lights from the torches makes it seem bronze.

Good morning.

This weekend, my dad, nephew and myself decided to do some night fishing around the Scottburgh area.
We had some gust winds which subsided around 8pm, so we took a chance and went.

Water current was a bit strong from the south, a bit brownish and warm.
We fished through with relatively small bites only, finishing the bait before we even get a decent pull.

My dad is 65 of age and fishes with a Loomis 13ft 3oz rod with a 6 inch KP reel. So now and then he has a small nap.
My nephew and I , we fished non stop, tried every bait possible, no luck.
My dad wakes up from his nap and catches a nice Kob of about 60cm in length.
Probably caught it 30 meters from the shore on high tide. We had a couple more decent pulls but within 30 mins everything was quiet.
No small fish as well, completely dead.

Decided to leave around 5am. It was an okay outing. Hopefully it gets better soon...

and just to mention, my dad doesnt use swivel, leader lines etc. like we do.

Straight mainline to sinker, make a double line hook snoot and attached hook.

My go to target in these months is to target Natal Snoek now on light spinning tackle because I have been hearing they pass our KZN waters from April onwards.

When I say light tackle I mean, 60gr 10FT rod with a 47 gram lure and 3000 size reel.

Hopefully, I will get one, till then I will post again if I get a chance again to go fishing.

Good morning

This weekend was a bit of a rough seas so my wife, son and I just went out for some rock pooling on low tide and teaching my son to perfect his casting and a little fishing competition between wife and son. Son won.

Not much this weekend with rough water and wind where I am at.

Pic 1- My son stepped on this while rock pooling- took it home around 30cm in length- This is a tasty fish
Pic 2- Nice size Grey Grunter- took a 4/0 needle point with sard belly. This was also tasty
Pic 3- Russell's Snapper on light tackle- Will try it and let you know if it is tasty.

Did not have much luck this past month due to the water conditions.
A bit of a small report.

Scottburgh point has produced some Shad early morning, mostly undersized.
A lot of Banded Galjoen are being caught.

I managed to hook this +- 48cm Cave Bass around 1.30 am on an Octopus head bait. The girth on this fish is something else.
