On Friday night, I took my Dad for a fishing trip on the South Coast. Wife permitted
Weather was perfect, so we decided to go at night due to the high temperatures during the day.
On arrival of our first spot, is an open bay between to sets of rocks, fished about three hours, tried sardine, octopus, squid, and prawns, not even a bite, fished from 10 pm to 1 am.
So we decided to move spot to a more rocky area, I put a sardine belly with a chokka head, managed to get a small kob, released it.
Dad persisted with whole sardine bait, managed to get a -+60 cm Threadfin fish, was a bit confused at first as I just know that these fish are called Threadfin, but had to google it to confirm the fish. Kept the fish.
Dad tried again, in the same spot. hooked into a monster fish, managed to get the fish close to the shore, unfortunately fish came lose 2 meter away from being landed, hook and a piece of the bait came back, checked the line, no grazes on the line, this place has a lot of horizontal rocks close to the shore, possibly a bigger Threadfin?
Dad tried again, this time fish took the bait, dad hit, reeled in, no hooked was left, could have been a big Shad, or Moray Eel.
The bites stopped, it began to rain. left the beach around 5:30am.
Good nigh of fishing although only managed two fish, one keeper.
Later that day, tried the Threadfin, fried it with masala mix, it was absolutely tasty
