bulb squids

I found some bulb squids in my cave, I took a drinking straw for the line to go through and wrapped one end with some strip lead that I have. inserted the straw and lead and filled the cavity with expandable foam. The bodys must be 200mm long
I will rig them with chain gangs



Has anyone ever fished with this type of squid and how does one troll them?

We use them for big Yellowfin in the Cape all the time. 3m 200lb leader on a twin single hook chain setup. Attach to a medium to large bird and run in an upright rod holder 20-30m behind your rapala spread.

I like to weight them and rig them with single hook rigs, then run them off the long riggers and shotgun with a bird.
Lighter weights for flat seas, heavier weights for rougher waters.

No, that would kill the bird action. As said, 2 singles at 180 degrees, wire for the hookset, mono for the leader. Small cigar sinker in the head (just enough to keep it swimming but still wandering a bit behind the bird).
Pink and browns at spring tide, blues and whites around neap.
