how long should a skirt be

Never heard of any rule of thumb. The way I see it the length of the skirt will determine the action of the lure. Longer skirts will make the lure track straight and stable while shorter one will give the lure a more erratic action.

Unless you are using DIY materials to make the skirt, the ones available commercially already come in predetermined sizes, which are proportional to the kona's head girth. Not much room to play there.

The Lure head in the pics is a Scylla medium tackle head and on their website the spec them as 9'' long (230mm) Now I guess this is the whole lure including the head 


The only skirts I could get were Pulsator shirts and rigged on the head is 33mm dia and with the skirt it is 340mm long I can always cut off but not put back


What do the experts recommend should I trim the lure to 230mm or should I leave it long

Only one why to find one: swim it!

That head with the offset leader hole should have a somewhat erratic swim. Depending on how you want it to behave, I'd say keep it short (23 cm) or a bit long.... but you need to try it...

The Scylla heads generally have an offset leader hole as well as jet holes each side so they will make a lot of noise.


I have just checked some old skirts that came off some Demon Tackle heads and they are about 250 long so with the head 280 so that where I think I will adjust to

I have asked many questions like this one a few times for tony 7/10 .


He told me , that the skirt just adds profile to the head of the lure , the head ( or the water it pushes ) that what's attracts the bite, he said ....


My initial question was , does  the desity of the skirts matter ?
