I think the size limit for Garick is good but the rest is BS because they need to police it properly and they don't. The guys taking more than their quota is going to carry on and us law abiding citizens are going to suffer.

I got this from Facebook... I've checked the DAFF website and it's still got the old regulations, so I'm wondering if this is legit??

Think it is legit... The staff at iSmangaliso (Kosi) has confirmed to the Ponta reserve people. The Moz side will probably follow in the same direction...

KOB -> East of Agulhas = 70cm.  Used to be 60cm
Steenbras (Pignose Grunter) = 70cm.  Used to be 60cm.  West Coast Steenbras remains 60cm.

Whilst the increase in size limits and reduction in certain species is welcome, DAFF have missed another opportunity.
They still allow 5 marlin, 10 yellowfin, 2 swords etc. 99.5% of us would be happy for billfish to be 1 and tuna 5 (but no more than 2 of each species). This still encourages recrommercials.


And clause 8 of the introduction contradicts clause 9b of recreational specific rules if I am reading correctly - which still says total bag of 10.

  Ok so it turns out the Facebook groups are calling the document a fake! Apparently 2 DAFF officials confirmed them as fake...

Dugong i am with you on this one.....my 2c worth....all the fish that the shad have traditionally hunted on the coastline (pinkies and karranteen) have been depleted and the shad are now staying on the offshore reefs...i dont for one second believe that their numbers are that poor (ask my yozuris)!

Perhaps they should regulate the Karrantine and Pinkies. They catch them by the bucket full in front of my cottage using rods or cast nets. Never see any going back.

I am all for conservation and revising laws (where necessary) but without effective policing it is totally ineffective, the other problem is incorrect data/ research - this is a HUGE problem!!
