X-rap observation

Before our recent Inhaca trip I replaced all the trebbles on my X-Rap Magnum 30' lures with Decoy singles. It may be worth noting that as far as I can tell it had no affect on hookups or dropped fish, in fact we only dropped 2 fish on the entire trip and one more bitten off just above the wire (probably the tax man collecting again). We pulled a variety of X-Raps for most of our fishing and only pulled Konas once or twice.
If I look at the lures now, the ones that were a favorite with the fish off Inhaca had a 6/0 single on the front with a 7/0 single on the back. The ones with 2 x 6/0 singles were hardly touched.
I don't think it was all a colour issue as I had mixed them up pretty well with some of the same coloured lures with the different hooks. It was clear that the ones with the 7/0 hooks on the back were the favorites by far, both for Couta and YFT's
Am I smoking something or do you guys think there could be something to it?

think you right there... I am sure the weight of the hooks affects the action. I have also noticed that Xraps that have had a bad bite often don't swim well anymore or not at all!

these new plastic rapalas dont seem to last like the old balsa ones that even when they were chewed up still swam well and caught fish.

not wanting to hijack this thread (cause I keep my rappies swimming with trebles)

in my opinion rapies quality came down during the last year
I've been having struggle with brand new rappies not swiming properly reason for swapping for the williamson speedpro

in regard to rappies colors I do notice that very productive colors haven't been working that well...that doesn't apply to rappie colors...it also applies to bait and konas
I used to have 2 to 3 halfbeaks on my spread with great success...2014 I had no strike (indeed not a single one) on HB

All our lures are rigged with singles and we remove all hooks except the tail hook. (i.e. one single hook on the tail) And we miss very few hits. Actually, with this rig, we have out-fished a number of other people all too often. Also, never seen any issues with the way the lures swim.

I will never use trebles. It's not needed. Not ever.
