Nothing wrong with that.

You are going to need fins, anchor, proper wader, thermal underwear, windproof jacket, gloves, thermometer to measure the water temp at different levels so you will need to colour code the rope too.

Float Tubes are fun, but a pain in the bum when the wind picks up. Then paddling becomes a pain everywhere, first your legs, then your lower back, etc.

You need to find a tube that can hold some gear, flies, etc on the front pontoons.
If it has a compartment at the back where you can put a bag with your food, water, camera, etc. its even better.

The other thing that is invaluable on a tube is to have strap on rod holders.
You take two rods out on the tube. One is loaded with a floater and the other with a fast sink or intermediate line. This saves you time and the misfortune of dropping a spool in the water when changing spools out on open water.

Adjust the holder so that the 2nd rod is out of the way. I have a float tube, never used it. I have all the accessories. I want to use it though, but I am spoiled with the little Crockesaurus with the trolling motor. I am high and dry and I can fish any water with it.

Float tube in winter with your behind hanging in water means one thing......You are going to freeze your bejingles off.

If you fish trophy stillwaters make sure you have a proper net.
You need one that is nice and wide and the bag of the net should be nice and deep.
Struggling getting a trophy into the net at your feet means one thing, tata my chance tata my trophy.

my advice would be to get the xplorer v-boat.
It is decently priced at about 2.5k. This tube allows you to sit at a decent height out of the water with just your legs bellow the knees getting wet, and low enough so you dont get to effected by the wind!

I would advise that you also just buy the cheap PVC type waders with boots built in as with all the rubbing that happens in a tube they take the pouding a bit better, and costing R500 bucks if they do break its not the end of the world. Also, having the boot built in allows you to wade the still water if possible. I have had my waders for 10 years and they still going strong.

You get fins that fit over your boots, the longer the better.

I love my float-tube and will opt to fish out of it rather than anything.. it allows you to move silently through and around the dam, and fighting fish from it is just the best!!!

the first pic is me in my V-boat
The second is another type of tube/boat, but when the wind picks up, you get sent one way...

For that money you can have the best boat on the market and probably get a trolling motor too. I have fished from an Ark once. It's like McDonalds hey, you need to try it once to make your own mind up.

Phone Pretoria Yamaha, they make proper inflatables using the same material they use on Rubberducks. They also make their's with a rigid floor which makes standing upright a breeze and walking on the boat is motionless, unlike the Ark where you feel you are walking on a waterbed.

Their's is the best....finish and klaar.
