new pb spearnose
« on: August 30, 2010, 06:41:30 PM »
On sunday morning i went to my new favorite spot... the wind was pumping in the wrong direction and the conditions looked bad but i drove an hour to get there so im definantly going to fish...

first bait a nice big yellowtail head flapped with 2 redeyes on a big circle slide then put out other rods both throw bait for myself and my father put out two nice baits out also one slide one throw (slide was big makerel with a flekked mullet and 2 redeyes and a big strip of chokka and throw chokka)

when i decided to put a new bai5t on my throw bait rod just as i finished winding in my slide takes off at full speed YES pickup in these terible conditionsthen it stops for half a second before i can get to my rod then starts again and vas! fight it for about 15min then i see its a big spearnose andwith no gaf they are a handfull and a half to land there and with a heavy 0.60 locked trini 40 drag and a 2mm wind on i got it in still green as last time my spearnose tried to cut me off but this time i gave it no chance.

just me and my father so he comes to help me land it and decides that he wount beable to lift it out of the water by himself with the leader so i ask him to run and grab my gloves but then it gets a burst and tries to cut me off so while my dad ran to get gloves i grabed its nose (big mistake they hurt!!!!!!) and half lifted it out the water so it couldnt run again then my dad came back literaly seconds later with gloves and i grabed the leadert and we pulled it out and measured it my new personal best! 161cm or 39.9 i think kgs!

tag afew (bad photos since there was no flat rocks around) and release. after that only got one tiny smoothie and my dads slide rod bounced afew times but the bait came out looking just as good as when it went in even the redeye was still on!

very happy!!!

Congratulations Steve !!
Looks like your new spot is producing the goods, again, awesome catch
