Ph , theres a couple of guys with Kayaks , and some do fish the area known as Die LAs . they paddle from the harbour around , its not a heavy paddle , but I must warn you , theres some serious Crakers , Big Elf and Leeries there in the summer , you better not fish too light for IF the beast comes along , and thats one of those places where it happens often . Even from the rocks itself on LOW tide , its a well know Cracker/ elf spot in summer . Its not a very popular spot and from the rocks , you must know where to stand and fish , and be prepared to loose a couple of sinkers , but over the years theres been some monster crackers caught there . Suderstrand you will get you Elf / loads of Kob and Geelbek , I know a Kayaker in Suiderstrand , best we get you hooked up with him where your here ... But I know they don't go far , and barely barely not get something interesting ...

Perfect morning , with near perfect conditions , the wind is up a bit by now , but fishable .

Me and my dad smacked a few areas for a galjoen this morning , one proper bite . No fish nada . It was a fantastic morning even though the fish did not eat out baits ... We did not fish very wide but the water looks very very good for some Kob , My mission will be to pull a Kob story should the Easrly hold , and my bet is that it will hold . Pity no one wants to pull a night mission yet . I am convinced that you will get some large jobs around as since I can remember they real big ones you get around here in August - October and then Late May , again . the usual places , will get the usual 'customers' My choice would be Either Tjokkas or Livebait [ which seem to around too ]

Other options are Steenbrasse , but bring your own worm as the Tide is too high for pumping Bloodworm or digging Wonder worm . More towards the End of September there a few really big one around .

I have been out of commission for 3 days ,severe Eye infection . so thus have no update on Catches made .
The weekends Weather was good , and well , the wind not ideal , with 'summer targets ' in mind .

The good news is that , the wind Swung SE and my stuff is packed for a Dawnie , the target will be Cob on Plastic .

the SE will not stay for Tuesday , going on current reports , but seems Next weekend , there might be a proper SE wind for 3 to 5 days , then things will look up .
I have had it with winter and lack of guys keen on braving the Cold of winter to fish , So I am pretty AMPEDDDD.

Lenny, we might be coming to visit the weekend of the 5th of September, hopefully we can manage to go for a mission this time. I will let you know and will try and bring some worms as well. I would love to go and look for some Kob as well.

I blanked , and so did my Dad , he was on the Whit mussel and I was doing the PD thing . Despite the blank the water had good colour , and working nicely , i was very excited to fish , as I was sure I would get an enquiry .

The wind swung now , to NW and seems going by reports ,the next SE spell will be over the weekend , so guys heading up here , might be in for some good action .

I have heard of a few Crackers in various sizes between the tree stories I saw 2 of them ...
With the crackers being around , the water temp must be Up , for sure !
Theres also plenty of baby baby Galjoen around .

SAfish , bru , I will be locked and loaded ,at least one proper fish this time !!!! Will check the weather and make a plan accordingly .....

UPDATE !!!!!!

After I had to get some help to get to the area , I wanted to fish , I went there , a bit too late in my opinion , but what can one do ?

The bait was the other factor , although I had my PD outfit ready to go . gooier some Mussel [ got it from Betty01 , and I am not sure what he doctored it with ]
Me and my dad headed out , it was such a perfect day , and the water looked good , had plenty of colour , but not joy .

I had one pik , on the PD but I ran out of jigheads a whir ago , and only have a brand by the name of Damiki , and let me warn you Stay far far away from them , they must have the worst possible hook you can imagine , i bought 4 packs of 1 OZ all of them the hooks just break , and they wee not the cheapest around either ...

My dad missed a couple of bites on Tjokka , I got notting on Mussel .

We seem to have a problem with a person on the Harbour wall , thats taking his 5 , 25 to 40 cm White Steenbrasse Perday , He claims its Bank steenbrass , But I know and he knows too , thats its not . i hate hate seeing this , but in his eyes hes not doing anything wrong , so basically impossible to change his ways , what a dick !
I am busy collecting some Pics of spots , and will do a thread with some of them in Due time .

Can't you inform the authorities and get them to sort him out? Surely they would be able to tell the difference between a Bank Steenbras and a White Steenbras and stop him from raping the ocean.

Struis harbour wall is one of the few places that I have seen blatant disregard for bag limits, size and closed seasons. The elf get murdered when they venture into the harbour, mostly by the locals. One sunday morning while making an early morning mission for elf at sunrise, I was greeted by about 5 sharks chopped into pieces and fins removed,on the harbour wall...... Very sad. that was my fishing over for theekend. Have also heard guys in the local supermarket bragging about the number of undersize gallies they just bagged.....
Having said that, I have also met some of the most respectful and conscientious guys there as well. And have caught the largest variety of fish in a single spot.
The policing of that stretch of coastline should certainly been improved. I have never been stopped and asked to see my fishing permit.

I agree, Archer, they need to do more to eradicate this problem. I have also never been checked for my licence there or in Still Bay. The sad part is that they can check the harbour wall from their offices but are too lazy to do anything about it. We used to catch Maasbankers on light tackle in the harbour but when I wanted to teach my son how to do it the last time I was there, the guys with their cast nets were throwing all over the place with no regard for other people. Since when are you allowed to use a cast net in a harbour because it used to be against the law? I got to a point where I avoid the wall completely.

Here in Knysna you can't dare to forget your licence at home because I get checked regularly.

Oh yes SAFish.... I forgot about the illegal cast netting in clear view of the fisheries office. There is 1 guy I always see netting, irrespective of how regular I visit struis. On 1 ocassion, he was netting off the wall on the beach side very close to the rocks and was picking up a size streenbras with every throw. Its like those fish were just parked off there waiting to be netted and he knew exactly what he was doing.

Just trying to work out how anyone could possibly confuse bank steenbras with white steenbras. They look about as different to eachother as white steenbras and red steenbras. One is a fingerfin and one isnt. Eish. Maybe shoot him and then say you thought he was a springbuck...

The more stories I hear like this one the more I wish that a fishing permit was something you had to pass, not buy like a drivers license. They have a system like that in place in germany. At the same time I wish that the laws we had in place were policed properly. I mean we have some fantastic laws, but they mean nothing if no one obeys them and then they get away with it every time. How hard can it be just to obey the law.
