Sunday morning session @ On the Rocks
« on: July 08, 2013, 03:51:58 PM »
My son Daniel and his girlfriend Samantha Rogers went to On the Rocks past Sunday morning early. Daniel is busy teaching Samantha fly fishing and this was to be Samantha's first session casting flies on the water.

Fishing was slow so Daniel advised her to change flies and they both put on black with bright red flash Woolly Buggers. Not long Daniel had a Rainbow around 1 kg but highlight of the morning was Samantha's first fish ever and to stamp her authority a male Rainbow of about 1.7kg.

Well done Samantha and very welcome to the fraternity of fisher folk, a life long habit that's hard to beat and just grows with every fish you catch:

Many years ago...

Think it was winter 2005 I visited the place in winter and caught some good fish.

Also my only golden trout.

Do they still stock golden trout???

Thanks for sharing Toppie! Congrats to Samantha. Does she know this sport is addictive and there is no way out?

Well done to Samantha for a great fish. Better well done for the man who introduced the lady in his life" to Flyfishing.  :udman:
To have a partner  who appreciates your obsession is great, ( I'm a lucky one  ), but to have one who participates in your in your obsession is PRICELESS  :happ:
If we caught fish on every trip, it would be called " Catching". We don't, and that's why it's called "Fishing".

Thanks, must say it is great to share our sport with others but especially so with someone you love. Believe me I landed the best catch ever.

Just got an SMS form the owner at On the Rocks informing they have restocked today with Rainbows and Browns.

So if you are in the area the next week or so should be fun  :trout:
