Am report on our East Coast from Gonubie to Kei

  Mornings Folks ...just a quick up date as to conditions....I was down at 05h00 and threw until 07h00  ...the sea is a mess and fair swell running with a heavy sidewash....pretty grubby and this west has now come through and maybe that cleaner water will make its way inshore by tomorrow AM....also the water temp is a chilly 14....

  Mornings East Coasters..well , we moving into a nip tide weekend and heres hoping we have a decent sea with no surge or severe sidewahes..The water at the moment looks pretty good and the colour has improved over the past few days...temp is sitting at a decent 18 and should not drop too much with this light east puffing today....
Now as that high passes our shores we have a decent coastal low forming with a back up from a front moving into the western cape area...BUT...for tomorrow AM that coastal low coming in off of that high will bring a devil wind and on the whole a north bergy wind is generally not good for fishing....then as that blow moves along the south wester will puff and that barometer will also rise ever so slightly...
Soo..its going to be an iffy weekend and the tides are also a tad awkward for our Jikeleza as tomorrow you have a high at 09h00 and on Sunday at 10h35 , both mornings , should you like an early AM start , you will be throwing on a push with an inshore swell of between 4 to 6 foot running BUT at least with a decent ground swell interval of at least 12 to 16 seconds push...
A nice comfortable sea to fish in BUT with the prospect of a very dead barometer...
Those that like scratching for blues , blacktails and the likes will probably have the most fun....the kob , poensies and silvers I fear might be in deeper water OR sitting tight till the pressure is right OR feed madly just before that front hits and then we all will probably be back work..hehehe
Spots that come to mind on these tides would be Cintsa beach area and Cefane.....IF you get a later AM start then Glen Navar and Muir areas would be a good choice IF that devils wind doesnt puff to hard....
Well Folks , its a weekend that looks like it could produce OR be as dead as a doornail ...as they say , no line in the water no chance of a bite...please pick up the litter!!!

  Mornings Folks , well local East Coaster , Greg , went ole SKOOL this weekend and came away very well rewarded!!...Big RESPECT Greg and cant wait to see those kobbies on plastics on your KP....

  Mornings East Coasters..well well...I am actually at a loss for words this weekend and looking at the systems off the west and south of our coast line i am not sure in which direction this wind wants to blow..hehehe...[/size]That being said , the water is not a bad colour although it is a tad chilly at around 16...We on a bright moon spring this wekend and once again please watch those tides as they turn from dead low to the push...also always expect a surge or sidewash with a spring tide and especially id you fishing on our deep water points...[/font]
NOW...as you look at this snap shot of WindyTY ...you will see off our east coast and just past Madagascar is tropical cyclone Carlos which is slowly making its way towards the Australias and at its peripherals are wind speeds up to and over 80kph...you can also see as its cyclonic action in clockwise our east coast is getting the backlash as a beastly eastly..
Then to the west as those two fronts converge we get that west coming through...all this upper and lower wind happening at almost the same time cam make for some very unusual weather locally..Soooo...with that in mind ...EXPECTED...for tomorrow the east will still puff and then the west should , by mid morning on Sunday come through with a slight dropping baro...as to the baro with these pressure systems falling over each other , the baro is pretty static and movementt is but a point or two up and down....
This jiggly movement of the barometer is not really conducive to bringing the fish onto the bite...
You have a high tide at 04h11 tomorrow and at 04h46 on Sunday...these are actually very nice tides for most spots along our Jikeleza and with this outgoing tide you can be assured , should the wind play along, that you will find some nice early AM holes to fish in...
My spot choices would be Haga ..Double Mouth...Glen gariff....Glen Navaar and Muir areas as well as Cintsa.....
Well Folks , as the saying goes ..no line in the water....
Be safe out there this weekend and enjoy our pristine piece of coast line and always remember to pick up the litter...

Hi Shaine ...well keep a look out for my fore cast tomorrow AM BUT we heading into another iffy weekend with lightish winds on Saturday BUT a stiff west and pretty heavy rain predicted for Sunday ...BUT here also the next 24 hours will tell us a story as that tropical storm moves west wards over the interior...stay tuned and we hope tomorrow brings us good news....

  Mornings East Coasters ...well we in for a wettish weekend especially looking at conditions looming for Sunday AM...as you look at the screen shot of WindyTV , you will see that our weather , and particularly along the SA shores , is being largely dominated by those two very large high pressure systems to the east and west of the country...[/size]Slap in the middle and now moving just off PE is a low pressure and that will bring us some much needed cooler temps and a west wind to warm the water a bit , although the sea temp is at 17 , it could do with a degree or two warmer...[/font]
The barometer has dropped ever so slightly BUT will start rising steadly late tomorrow arvie and then Sunday AM is looking good for fishing as a whole...all that might put a spanner in the works is the HEAVY rain expected ...
Some say that that tropical storm has affected our weather here locally ...well...to a larger degree I beg to differ ..to a lesser degree it has moved slightly more moisture towards the coast than normally would be expected with these weather systems at the moment....my point , is be wary should you find yourself fishing at one of our tidal rivers along the Jikeleza...should they receive water in the catchment areas , one cannot tell when that river will come down in a flash...
Tomorrow you have a high at 07h56 and on Sunday at 08h53...a fair groundswell running in an eastly direction and should top out at around 4 to 6 foot inshore...we are on a nip tide this weekend and expect no surge or sidewash BUT always keep one eye on that tide as it turns to the push...
Tomorrow AM sees a light south wind which will puff south east and then late arvie as that low pressure approaches swing to west...the west will last untill mid morning Sunday and then that western high will present itself....
My opinion on the window of opportunity would be Sunday AM as that baro starts to rise and GlenGariff comes to mind as does Glen Navaar and Muir....IF the sea is not up then early AM Double mouth is a very good option..
Those venturing towards the rivers , stay alert and especially the Kei...should the Kei catch alot of rain up river it can and will flow pretty strong AND it also fishes well should you follow the colour line with the push of the tide....
The water at the moment looks pretty clean and may get grubby as those rivers start to flow ...
