first spear nose...
« on: August 15, 2010, 07:14:52 PM »
I really felt like getting a good fish this weekend and wasnt sure were to go since i could only fish this morning and wanted to fish in gordons bay but it seemed like a huge mission but im glad that i decided to go...

when i arived i saw that Tim(shark bait) and vaghn were there and they had got afew fish sofar.

i threw out a mullet flapped straight away and put out a big slide hopeing for anything decent. after a while i got a small pull on my mullet but very small and after that the rods were dead for the rest of the time...

when we were packing up i was about to reel in my slide first and then decided to rather wind in my throwbait and then my slide as i started to reel in my slide i thought that i had an okkie or somthing on as it was just very heavy and i asked my dad to come and grab it if it was an okkie when my "okkie" decided it had enogh and started to take line i was caught off gaurd and almost went for a swim luckily i kept my balance and since i was using a circle hook i just kapt heavy tension and it was VASSS!!!! hows that for luck hey!

it was flipping strong and felt as if it was giving head shakes and i thought mabe a big vaalhaai or i dont even know what and then it happened as it got closer it got stuck!!! oh no now i was bleak but after last weekend i had changed my line to 0.60 and had a 2mm wind on it was going nowhere! after about 20min of me running around it finaly came loose but now i was abit tired as i had been running around and pulling flipping hard to get it loose and it had been resting when it came loose it started going again and i still had no clue what it was.

eventually it came to the side and i saw its wings and was so happy as this would be my third flatfish ever but now it decided to go around a rock but after some tense moments my line came off and the speari was still on know my dad grabed the leader and after some wrestling it came in and i grabbed it and my dad and i landed it after i got the hooks out and a quick  photo session i tagged it and released it .

if it wasnt for the 2mm wind on i bought from renier i would have definantly lost it the leader was trashed.

MY FIRST EVER SPEARNOSE!!!!!!!!

what a great sunday i had..

Great catch there Steve M, where along Gordon's did you land that beaut ?
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles
