My wife loves the casino and I hate it, so we hardly ever go.
The times we do go is because I spent a little bit too much money at the tackle shop.
Last year I came on leave after 3mnth out of country, and decided I earned my dollars and I am going to spoil myself for my birthday. I bought a nice camera with the wife's blessings.
Then I bought a Shimano Beastmaster with less blessings and took the aunty to the casino as a truce. And I won lekker money too. Then I got all cheeky and told the missus, you know what, my camera and rod was actually free.
I now tell her, I am such a pro, I fish with sponsors, the casino "sponsored" my rod.
I gave her a 1K of the casino money, so she is at peace

How are those owners against rust? The cost of rigging with cable thimbles etc adds up, and if the hooks wont last a season due to corrosion (no matter how you wash spray etc) its annoying, not to mention the stains on the lures. Aklso if the crimp and hook eye is under shrink wrap you cant see the corrosion.
I also prefer stainless, but doing some experimental stuff at the moment. I would say these jobus last 2 seasons. They do corrode even with salt off etc, and they are by no means cheap. Far from it actually. The new jobu comes with a sacrificial anode to assist with corrosion but I am not 100% confinced as yet. But the jobus are fantastic hooks. The best hooks I have used are the hays hooks, they are pricey and a bugger to sharpen but they are super strong and do hold an edge once you get them sharp.

Owner actually sells an aluminum tape that you apply to your hooks to act as an anode I'm trying it on some of my GT trebles as they are dame expensive and some of them are only made once every 2 years or so I'll let you know how it goes

Don't walk into the grocery store that has a very good fishing section after a few beers after work.I forgot most of the groceries I was supposed to get but new 3000 sized grinder and a few rapalas found their way into my basket. At least the slip says spar on it.

We've been battling to find the little Yozuri EBA poppers anywhere recently, which is quite disappointing as they're deadly for anything in estuaries. My last one was taken by a pickhandle which I was a tad upset about. Visited Freespool at Gateway earlier and found a couple of the favoured pattern, and plenty other colours, and the best news was that all Yozuri lures were 50% off! So we bought 18. Apparently they dont sell so well......Strange....

You don't get them for multipliers Rory but Jaen uses his TLD's on them, I also use my old poseidon jigging sticks as live bait sticks

people swearing by them for their versatility though. Im super happy with mine.

Long time TA. I have sinned regularly, but getting on top of it now. Realize that there is something sneaky going on here.

I still have a rod I built from a blank when I was 14, still use it 40 years on. I learned to use a KP and use a KP by preference. So what is TA all about then? After many silent pondering moments in my shed I realized that the sales of tackle has nothing to do with catching fish, but about making the purchaser happy by belonging to one or the other group - eg friends by association, with undertones of personal freedom, respect. In some ads survival in a post apocalyptic world is also for sale plus associated boats, cars and drinks.

Marketing hype is really quite insidious and when it intersects with boredom elsewhere in life they have your money that should be spent on fishing trips, not bits.

So - to TA sufferers ask yourself the question - is it possible that I can be happy without the purchase of this EXXY widget? If there are conceivable circumstances, then you will find it easy to walk away.
