Carp on Fly clinic 10th June 2012

UFF and Jason Heyne will host a Carp on fly clinic at Trout Hunters in Krugersdaorp on Sunday the 10 June, cost is R250.00 and will include instruction by Jason, fishing fees and admittance, 3 flies and a braai with cold drink.
SWAMBOs, WAGs or non fishers are free to join us for the day at a cost of R 180.00

I was pleasantly surprised at how many people came through even though the temptation to stay under the warm duvet with that howling freezing wind outside must have been great.
The clinic was a success in that we did catch Carp but the weather was so rough - both cold and windy that we could only use the bread flies and cast blind which is far from ideal. There was no surface feeding going on at all and therefore we had to sink the bread before we got any takes , it became really technical and difficult looking for the subtle takes.
Had things been calmer and the water just a little warmer then we could have sight fished and cast fritzes etc. at feeding Carp and had a more complete tutorial and more success.


The next iteration will be when the weather is warmer and the hopefully with less wind

  :shre: Wished I could make it, caught a few at Erfenis in Ice Rain when I could not feel my fingers anymore.. But glad you at least got some carp this time round
