Mr Ziggy, no offense taken,

Thanks for your input in the handling of fish, points duely noted.

What I must say though is that there are times where circumstances does not allow for the absolute care that one would like to take in the handling of fish, esp water handling, in the case of the female being caught I was alone fishing of a high bank and had to contend with this catch by my lonesome self, my mate rushed over clicked 2 pics and was off again.

Anyways, excuses aside, I will however in my future adventures try my best to be more careful and make the fishes well being my priority, thanks once again for taking the time.

Christo if I had to guess I would say that female is close to 3kgs! Like 2.7  :cgrts: :resp:

That thing was a slab, way heavier than the 2 males, I think your guestimates are on the button there, need to get a proper weigh net and start documenting these catches.

I speak from experience, forget the weigh net, they are very inaccurate. Midas and numerous other stores sell a small spring scale by Slater, weight up to 8 kg, adjustable to "tare" your net after the release, just subtract the difference.
I've had a scale net weigh a SM yellow at 6.8 kg when it actually weighed 4.3 kg.
I nowdays only weigh a fish when I think it is maybe a PB. Rather just unhook the debarbed hook whilst the fish is in the net, underwater, turn the net upside down and away she goes,( as long as it has been a short fight ).

If we caught fish on every trip, it would be called " Catching". We don't, and that's why it's called "Fishing".
