I got myself one of these rods especially for edibles about a year ago, and I was terribly dissapointed at first. This rod was flexing much more than what I was use too and the bite detection also felt different.  duh

But having spent the money I had to use it, and now I enjoy fishing with it. I cast a 6oz sinker with a bait for optimum distance using a Grandwave 40 and 0.40 nylon, with this setup I have caught lots of eds. The advantage is that you don't have to put a lot off effort in to get the rod to load which would be great for a coffee grinder reel.  :fshn:

I was especially surprized by the pulling power that kicks in once you start pulling hard on this rod with little effort I caught a 30kg bronze shark on a live mullet once and the T flex handled it well. Yes I have casted big baits with it but its not designed for this and you will not get distance with a heavy bait.

This rod is good for eds with small to medium sized baits and some heavier lures up to 6oz, if you were use to a stiff rod it will be an adjustment at first but once you get use to this rod you will enjoy it too   :tite

I'm not saying you can't pull big fish with this rod, just that if its shark fishing you intend to do there are much more capable rods on the market there for. From my experience two things you are going to battle doing with this rod is casting big baits & sliding.

so far only been out twice two smoothounds and a few huge stripies but it handled fine , i cant see how it wont handle bigger , i have been out most of the time catching bigger fish with Pentagons and recently caught decent steen bras on a slimline stroke four both fish over 15 kg with light tackle and both were landed in short time , it goes about the skil one posseses and the knowledge i suppose , look at how many large fish have been landed on stroke 4's so with that in mind the idea is not to target lunker bronzies , but the idea is to fish for medium to small flatties in comps and edible that are lying far out , however if you do get picked up by a bus it shouldnt be a problem , if you have sufficient line what should it matter! just my opinion i will post all the fish i catch , unfortunately i just dont get out there enough to play around as the normal person does ! so i guess i cant swear by it yet , but faith i have its enjoyable to feel every little tap on your line lol!, maybe it doent work , but hey lets give it a shot ! i have only heard one sort of bad report so far the rest all in favour and big names at that charl marais our very own springbok wants one now aswell!
