Hey there fellow fishing enthusiasts!
I've been lucky enough to spend countless hours on the serene waters of Plett during the warm December and January months when the game fish are in full swing.
Let me tell you, the fishing has been absolutely incredible these past few years! Picture rugby field-sized schools of bonnies and some mind-blowing garrick catches on light tackle. It's safe to say I've become completely addicted to fishing, borderline obsessive!
But here's the thing: I can't stop thinking about my next fishing trip and now, I've got this idea (or maybe it's just a brainfart) to target something bigger, angrier, and stronger than bonnies. I've set my sights on Yellowtail and Yellowfin Tuna that occasionally grace the bay. So, I'm turning to you awesome folks for some advice on tackle and the best spots to chase after these incredible fish.
Now, let's talk gear. I've got a couple of TLD 25's and 30's collecting dust, and I'm looking to pair them with some heavier rods. I've been checking out the Shimano Vengeance Standup and the Assassin Leviathan trolling rods. Do any of you have experience with these rods, or perhaps you can suggest some other options that can handle the challenge? I'm all ears for your advice and alternatives!
By the way, check out this image I've attached. It shows a great looking structure about 7km off Robberg point. There's a nice drop-off from 35m to 85m, and from what I can tell, it seems like the perfect spot for these fish, given good weather and a sprinkle of luck. Have any of you fished around there? Can I count on this spot to deliver the goods?
Please don't be shy to tell me if I am being dof for wanting to target these fish here, but I am looking for the next challenge.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts and recommendations. Here's to tight lines, unforgettable experiences, and epic fishing stories!

My wife allows me to keep all the fishing tackle I can hide.

 • The lighter the tackle, the bigger the fish!

Remember fishing of Robberg back in the 90s.  Old fibreglass purglass rod with a Penn 500.  Casting spoons for elf and leervis.  Sheesh that reel could burn a finger...  Later upgraded to a TLD 20/40.

Saw some nice yellowtail and smaller tunas being caught of the rocks, but never caught any myself.

We used to fish that drop for bottom fish and hake.  Check out the ledges and drops towards Nature's Valley as well.  Some good structure in that area.

Line burn is just a great reminder of an awesome day out by the sea!

It must be so much fun to catch those from the rocks, that's definitely on my bucket list. I have often heard from the locals that there are awesome fish to be landed at the point, just be prepared for the trek there and back with all the gear.

I'll definitely give natures valley a shot, I'd really like to target some Kob in that area.
