Best lure to imitate krill
« on: June 22, 2015, 03:03:15 PM »
Struggling to hook gamefish that are feeding on krill on the surface but will not look at my spoon or plug presentations.

Any ideas?

The fish are eating the krill i could clearly see it and we foul hooked one and its stomach content was full up with krill

I have experienced this before and they would not take any plugs or spoons presented.

take a plug then add 40-60cm nylon to back after you remove the treble then add a small fly to the nylon =plug weight is used to cast the fly out similar to a bombarda float they use to catch sea bass in Europe .

Maybe try a small bite me jig or halco twisty (5g) ? I do not think they are feeding on krill, a lot of the time those gamefish are feeding on tiny bait fish (under 10cms) that are feeding on small plankton and krill, but the game fish do not feed on these items to the nest of my knowledge.
