Hi gents i was wondering what the best way to cast the grinder
1. overhead
2. Pendulum
please let me know how you attain best results thanks don

I have used both, but found the pendulum gets me more distance on my scratching setup, with heavier sinkersd and baits I use the overhead...

quick question , when casting with a big pit reel and bionic finger , must the spool be at it highest travel when setting the bionic finger in line with the top end of the spool?
-
Hi A1,
as a norm you should always cast with the spool fully extended (highest travel) with a grinder. This allows for maximum free flow of line off the spool. Regarding the casting options 1) over your head is going to be more accurate, 2) the pendulum should give you more distance, but less accuracy.
Enjoy :fshn:

Hippo, please explain why there would be a difference between line flowing off the spool in the high or in the low travel positions? Maybe I'm being doff here but I can't see how it would make a difference?

Hi Reefman,
with the spool in the "low" position, thus closer to the reel, you'll find that the line at the bottom of the spool, will "knock" the side of the bail arm mountings during the cast, especially with reels filled with mono. This has an impact on the distance you can cast.
To A1, can I assume that you'll be fishing with braid (using the bionic finger) - if so, remember to slightly under fill the spool by ±1mm-2mm so as to reduce the possibility of wind knots.
All the best
