Used in the Quissico lakes, Quissico, Inhambane province, S Moz, mainly by male teenagers, the traps are made from the bark of several species of trees. Placed in deeper areas (3-5 m) of the lake, for 2-3 days, with a threaded little marker buoy, it targets mainly eel and barbel...

How does it work John F? Fish can't turn around, or fish use it as shelter?

On this particular one the fish use it as shelter... when the fisherman colects the trap he lifts the open end and the fish retreats towards the back of the trap... it's a quick and swift move... very seldom they loose fish...
