Title: Tuna Birds
Post by: Capt. Hook on August 29, 2011, 03:02:03 PM
This little bird we commonly call a Sterrikie is the bird you want to find when looking for Yellowfin Tuna, find many of these and you find Tuna.
If they are circling and dipping you know there are YFT around.
Golden Tip: The height these birds circle above the water indicates the depth the Tuna are feeding.

Very interesting FA never knew the height they fly at was the same as the depth the tuna are feeding at  :shre:

Not sure how exact that science is WK, but certainly the higher they fly the deeper the fish are feeding/swimming, this is purely so its easier to keep a visual on the shoal so they can follow them until they start feeding nearer the surface.
