As Rory said , plenty sand roads in the Kosi area , specially to Bhanga nek , Blackrock and Rocktail bay , 4x4 only..!! even getting down to Kosi mouth can be a mission with a normal or 4x2 vehicle  access to the launch site at lake 3 no problem  , good fishing to be had at the difficult to access spots though and stunning views  , remember to stop off at the Total garage , and stock up on goodies etc also speak to Jan who owns it a nice chap with a lot of info on the area and can help you out with any queries , if boating on the lakes no 1, 2 and 3 are ok no 4 is not allowed ask the parkies there about do and donts and mind the hippos , plenty of them in all 3 lakes but they tend to avoid most boats unless u get to close , also stay out the channels between the lakes very early in mornings and late afternoon , them river horses like to use them as well . :-)

Wakawaka, depending where you going to stay if you will reach with a 2 x 4.

Firstly - there are no gravel roads!

With some defty driving skills and enough momentum, driving your mother in laws car you can reach Kosi Bay Lodge and the Parks Board camp. But its dry now so loose sand. Works better after some rain when the sand has compacted a bit.

To the mouth (northern side) dont think they'l let you in without 4x4 as there are some serious inclines of loose sand to navigate on way back. At high tide sometimes you have to navigate submerged flows and inlets - again make sure you driving your mother in law's car or at least your boss's.

Places like Black Rock, Bhanga Nek and Rocktail Bay you will need a 4x4.

I heard on his last trip to Brazen he took a Toyota Tazz with a truck trailer on the tow bar  :dunno:

Try catching some live fish in the channel and fishing them near the hippo's. There always seems to be lots of Pike near the hippo's.

Letting your tyres down to one bar will help a lot. :tite
